Spraying help please....

Recommended Posts

Hi everyone, I am planning to repaint my leader class Megatron. Problem is that I need to do a black base coat for him but I only have Games workshop paints, I don't have any Airbrush equipment as well so my friend told he that I could try using normal spray paints. I got myself a Nikon Pxlon black spray paint, now heres the part I really need some tips and help.

I have never spray any of my figures before, how should I start? Should I strip Megatron apart? How should I spray? Just some tips will be fine, I don't wan to ruin Megatron thats all...

Cheers everyone...

1. I normally take them apart and wash with soap.

2. Spray at least 8-10 inches away

3. Do multiple light coats. Never try to cover everything at one go

4. Spray in one continuous motion. Never stop in the middle

Hope this helps

woo laa laa.... Will get down to it tonight... Thanks pal....

If you want the best results, always paint the face black with thinned paint rather than spraying it. It's the place with the smallest details, and you don't want to cake it. It matters less for bigger figures, but Megatron has tiny details....

so what do you suggest I do? Paint or spray? I mean what you prefer?

Umm, both perhaps. Spray the areas that have large details, since they will never build up paint to a point where detail is lost. Hand paint the areas that have tiny details so you have control on how much paint is going on. This will make you very versatile. :clap
