No it's fact Nevermore. The transfomers you see today are popular, don't get me wrong, but it just can't approach how big they were back in the day. Were you around for those days? The people who were old enough to remember what the TF craze was like will know what I mean.

 

Today's transformers are no more popular than the other toys and cartoons out there. Some kid would like TF just as much as he would pokemon.

And my point on the toy discussion was that they could literally create anything they wanted as a toy. The toy could be designed to meet the requirements of safety laws. Hell I wouldn't even mind if they made him a laser gun. Your looking for realism in a movie like this, a movie where giant robots attack each other with laser guns, and transform into giant robots.

 

I'm not gonna sit here and go back and forth with you, it's obviously an opinionated difference, but the people involved in the movie will prove me right, they could care less about the newer transformers compared to the originals. There's no clamoring for any of the new ones, they are all clamoring for the old ones. That speaks my case for me, and the people involved with the actual creation of the movie agrees.

 

Chances are, we won't see a Gun Megatron, or a tape deck soundwave, and that will be a shame, but... cest la vie.

I think Nevermore hit it right on the head with his post about the animation errors in G1. Must absolutely *everything* be exactly the same as the G1 cartoon in order for you to accept this movie, Comfortador? And if so, what's the point of even making a movie in the first place? There's already a G1 Transformers movie out there. And you even get to see Megatron transforming into a gun (*and* Soundwave turning into a microcassette recorder).

 

Comfortador, clearly Megatron's G1 alt mode is a very important aspect of G1 to you. Fair enough. Some people disagree, however, including the people who will be producing this movie. And I really do think that you're being a bit reactionary to say that it's not going to be Transformers without a gun Megatron. Don't you see how inconsequential that is, in the grand scheme of things? Do the X-Men movies suck because they dress in black? Does Spider-Man suck because of Spidey's organic web shooters? Do those movies have *anything* at all to do with those details? Of course not.

 

What I am interested in is the story, and the characters they use in it. Ultimately that will determine the success of the film, not details that are only meaningful to a certain percentage of the TF fandom.

 

P.S. No one is allowed to use "Catwoman" as an example of what happens when you deviate from source material. That movie sucks for twenty million reasons, and I guarantee none of them are that she wasn't named "Selena Kyle."

Really, some change can work out for the better and in this case, Megs not being a gun and Soundwave gaining a better alt. mode could be those times. Now if they made Starscream a Diablo in this movie or something COMPLETELY outta whack like that then I'd see where Confrontor is coming from but at any rate Megs becoming a tank works as:

 

1.He's been a tank before in various continuities, with success

2. Its a much deadlier instrument of destruction than some wimpy pistol ever could be

All we know so far is a basic description of Prime & Megs -- Prime believes in the sanctity of life, whereas Megs wants to exterminate all biological life. (Sounds a bit Beast Machines-ish to me.) But who knows if that will have anything to do with the story.

 

G1 Prime = truck

G2 Prime = truck

BW/BM Prime = MUNKY ;)

RiD Prime = truck (okay, a fire truck, but work with me here)

Armada Prime = truck

Energon Prime = truck

 

I think it's safe to say that in the movie, Prime will be.... a truck! :tfgrin

I'm only a month older than you, I just usually read and not participate all that much. Depends on the topic, Issues I feel strongly about I will post on. Besides, you agreed with him, so it's not like you didn't support his views.
