JustIToys MP Prime Trailer

Recommended Posts

I just ordered one of JustIToys' third party Masterpiece Prime trailers, and I was wondering what those of you who own one think of it? I know I'm a little late for the party with this thing, but I've wanted one for a long time and didn't plan on ever getting an MP-04, so I figured better late than never. I know it doesn't transform or anything, but how's the quality? Is there any die-cast? Rubber tires? I haven't been able to find any galleries or impressions, even though it's been on the market for a while.

:tfmad I think , the JustToys-Trailer isn't as well as MP04's trailer. It's just used to be displaied not for playing.

I've never seen an MP-4 trailer in real life (down under we don't get cool stuff. :( We got MP-2 once) but I can say I'm very pleased with my JustIToys trailer. It has rubber tires, and 3 pieces of die cast; the base of the "axle" if you want to call it that, and two rods at the front. From what I've seen of MP-4's trailer in pictures, the JIT one is of much higher quality in terms of detail. I'll post some pics a bit later for you.

EDIT: OK here we go, the things marked in purple indicate Die cast parts.

Here we have the front.

The side.

The back, which is neat because you can see the camera and my hand in the door. :P

The bottom.

And finally one with Prime in Robot mode for comparison.

Wow, that looks better than I expected! Thanks. Like I said, I already paid for mine (it should get here sometime this week), I was just curious as to what I was going to get, and couldn't find a whole lot of pictures or info. I could care less about whether or not it transforms, I just wanted a trailer that matched Prime's level of detail, which that most certainly does. I'm pleasantly surprised to see the Autobot stripe is molded and not a sticker or paint app.

Can you tell me how the trailer attaches to Prime's alt mode? I remember hearing something about a connection piece, which the first wave of trailers was missing... Something about it was the same piece that originally came with MP-01, and they expected people to already have it.

Guys be prepared for MP-04 reissue.. i hope they fix the QC issues they had previously

How does it looklikewhen opened? Does it have Roller?

There's a small black disc that fits into the hitch connector on Prime, which in turn accepts a pin in the trailer. Why they didn't just attach the disc to the pin I have no idea. :wtf

The back door hinges down, it doesn't split open like some of the other trailers. No Roller. Some Alts will fit inside, just watch the side mirrors.

To recap, it's basically a disproportionately expensive plastic box with wheels. It doesn't do anything but sit there and look good. That said, I'm glad I bought mine (though even on sale for $40 it was too expensive for what it is). It makes Prime worth displaying in alt mode.

And finally, I can't imagine what value "die-cast" would add to this piece. :tfwtf

It is nice as a display piece when Prime is in alt mode. I got one of the first runs where the pin is sticking out of the trailer and no piece to connect it to my 20th Prime. I had to find a small rubber type plug to fit in the pin to keep it from scatching the paint on Prime's leg.

anyone have the link to order?

BBTS has them on backorder for $65, and I think they're also available on TFsource...

...Though $65 is way too much, IMO. I paid $50 for mine on ebay. As for die-cast parts, Prime has them so why not his trailer? I'm just glad the quality is comparable to Prime's. I'll let everybody know how mine turns out when it gets here later this week!
