Alternators Sideswipe

Recommended Posts

Hello Alternators Sideswipe finally made it to Baltimore, MD.

Anyway, I'm not sure if anyone wrote about this but my Sideswipe's lower back helmet is red instead of all black. What I want to know is, are all of them like that or is mine special? When I really look at him it bothers me slightly. It's like I recieved an unfinished product. I have to say I am really super satisfied with this toy. Way more than I thought I would be after listening to all the complaints. I still want to know if there is some safe way to color the red black without making his helmet look worse?

Mine's red as well, don't see it as much of a problem, considering it's on the back of his head. I'm sure some of the kitbasher's could help with the paint though...might want to try the art galleries.

what he said. I personally dont mind, since i Display him facing forward.

Mine's a redhead as well. No biggie cause I'm loving this toy.

Red as well, and he stands in front of MP Prime so no one ever sees it.

My BT's head is all black ^_^

But his passenger-side door sticks funny... Enh.

I never even noticed that until I read this topic.

Aren't you sorry you did?

If it REALLY bothers you, and you're not willing to paint on a little matte black model paint, you could always use this stuff called molecubond. You can buy it at any Wal-Mart and most automotive stores. It's a form of ABS dye, in spray or can, and you can simply brush it onto the red parts...although I'd recommend taking his head apart first. The red is NOT a seperate piece, in fact, the black is what is painted onto a red head.

I haven't tried it on this particular toy, but this stuff leaves no marks, it's practically indistinguishable from real black plastic unless you put it on really thick or carve off the plastic. Therefore it won't be glossy. As for how closely it matches the rest fo the black paint....that, I cannot tell, because like I said, I haven't done it.

Cheap skinflints could always use a sharpie marker, but that would look pretty crappy.
