I know how Transformers reproduce.

Recommended Posts

Yesterday I was surfing the web serching for info on Primus and I don't know where exactly, but I read that in the original comic Optimus Prime went back in time with the power of the matrix and found himself in a temple and he discovered what looked like a transformers in pain,, but things were more then meets the eye. As Optimus watched, the other Trasformer Split in two. the two halves regenerated and now there were wo robots. The first one, and another one that was only wires and circuits. No armor. The other robot got armor later, I think, and that was how a new Transformer was created. After a while, this power was taken away from the Transformers by Primus becuase he didn't want them to grow too numerous. So from what I've read, Transformers seem to reproduse Asexually by division. I thought that this was interesting. Becuase Both fembots and male transformers could divide, (i think, it didn't say what the transformer in the temple was) and I know that some people have been wondering about how transformers were once created. Well, there you have it. A Tranformer just splits in half. It's that simple. See? was that innappropriate?

Yeah, that was the Furminator's take on it in the G2 run, and that that's what the second generation TF's were under Jhiaxus.

Wasn't what I thought it was.

The whole "Transformers reproduction" thing is completely silly IMO. They're frickin' robots. I can handle anthropomorphism (i.e. making something that isn't human look/act as though it is) when it comes to robots walking on two legs, having eyes and hands, and what not. But the whole gender / reproduction thing is too much.

For one thing, it's weird and a bit creepy to think about the "relationship" between (say) Springer and Arcee. For another thing, aren't we talking about machines that are built, rather than "born"? What's the point of assigning gender to creatures that don't reproduce at all, much less sexually? There is absolutely no point to it, other than to increase audience identification with the characters, by making them seem as similar as possible to us (while still being 20-foot-tall robots).

The concept of the "spark" only added to this IMO. Beast Machines, no matter what anyone thinks of it, was the logical conclusion of the anthropomorphistic ideas that had been developing within the Transformers continuity ever since Victor Caroli told us all in 1984 that TFs were "intelligent robots that could think and feel."

On a side note, a friend of mine, who is a musician, once wrote a piece of lounge music that he called "The Ballad of Optimus and Elita-1." Heh.

You know, Thats what I thought too.

if primus striped him of this power how cume newer bot like wheele are so young compared to kup who is much older then sead wheele

The other explanation is the Creation Matrix theory. Initially, many Transformers were built by the Quintessons. However, Primus, trapped within Cybertron, became aware of them, and gave the first of them a spark. Eventually, Primus' own spark became part of the Creation Matrix (or the Matrix of Leadership), and that was used to give sparks to the newly built Transformers. Then came war, and the Matrix belonged to the autobots. How the Decepticon's created Transformers is anyone's guess. Unless they were budding.

It's possible, since so many Decepticons resembled Starscream, that it was also possible to use this Transformer's indestructible spark to create new Transformers; they were literally cloned from him, a la Dreamwave.

That's my take, at any rate. It does mean that most of the 'cons are a million plus years old.

I myself don't go for the reproduction bit. I see the comic and the TV show seperatly and unrelated to each other. In the comic I'll go for the god and creation stuff but in the TV series I prefer the bodies built and life essence given to them in whatever fashion. If a TF was born in that way you describe it would mean they grow or develope physically other than armour plating. Any TF that is shown to be alive over a long period of time and remained active never changed size or form "G1 Shockwave over 4 million years old and looked the same as the day he walked off the assembly line"" This is only my take of events.
