The thing is about this series, its the same old autobots and cons.  They are all the same characters and there is nothing ground breaking.  You really shouldn't expect much new.  They didn't change anything besides, when they wake up, what the cons are up to and their apperances.  Its still bumblebee the side-kic, starscream the power hunger, megatron the powerful.

 

Its not anything new, and  you think starscream was going to win this fight. I mean really.  This is just following old standards already written YEARS ago for all these characters. Starscream never beats megs, Prime always is the autobot bad@$$, and blah blah blah.

 

For a completely different universe everything is the same.  You shouldn't of thought somethng that new was going to be something that new.

 

Man, I just repeated the same thing in what three or four paragraphs?  I need to write/think my thoughts out better.

 

Anyway what I woud've like to see happen in this series:

Not core characters as the main forces, I mean they always are. WTF

A couple are ok, but the whole force?

 

Maybe, different spins on characters.  Starscream being loyal to megs, Megs being a low ranked commander wanting to climb up ranks, maybe all of his forces are outcasts, and it shows megatron snaking more troops into his forces to over take con command.  Maybe all the autbots aren't good. They don't want prime on their battle field so they send him to earth with sereval others to track megs ((they wouldn't see him as a threat)).  maybe, a story on how the war isn't just black and white ((Autobots good, cons bad)), maybe the civil war was wrong or caused on both their parts.

 

I don't know, anything besides the same old story again with some other elements to give some spice ((that realy doesn't hide the fact we know all of this already))

But honestly, Simon has lost his touch. It's not that I don't think he has done good work in the past. His Marvel stuff was great.    But I have been repeatedly disappointed by his stories with DW and IDW of late.

 

It's time to give other writers a chance, because really, its ridiculous of us to expect a man who has churned out great stories for us time and time again to continue to deliver. The well's gone dry. 

 

For example, look at Dixon's reception with Hearts of Steel. It's simple and flawed in ways, but its fun and fresh.   

 

I'm not alone and don't have a personal agenda against Simon. Really, I'm just saying what many are thinking.

Picked up #6. I'm enjoying this reboot quite alot.

I hope Strarscream IS dead (and that goes for Skywarp too). The massive injuries they sustained surely are enought to kill off a TF. It would also add a bit of realism to the comic innthat once you die you're dead. That said hopefully there will be no more Starscream for a very long time until his ghost makes an appearance...

BTW i thought the brawl between Megatron and Starscream rocked. Megatron sure is powerful in this incarnation. In older incarnations at least other bots could teach him. Now he seems God like which is cool in a sense. I wonder if Prime is as strong as Megatron is. Hopefully not. I'd prefer if Megatron was much more powerful than Prime with Prime relying on wits to defeat his enemy.

I do agree with you in that it is, I think, somewhat unfair to place the burden of TF comics squarely on Furman's shoulders. He's writing Infiltration, Stormbringer, Beast Wars, and then Escalation. But hey, as long as he wants to that's fine with me. I'll still be buying em up.

 

I am interested to see what happens in Stormbringer, about time someone realized that Cybertron probably wouldn't be inhabitable after millions of years of fighting. Hopefully, this will be a pretty fresh spin on the history of Cybertron.

 

And on another note, I've always loved teh notion of Megs being the most powerful TF.

It's pretty doubtful. It looks like they have some good means of repairing themselves. Runamuck and Runabout were seriously trashed, but they're once again flawless in this issue.

 

Just disappointed that the climax of this series was not in Infiltration. Still the cliffhanger is not as agonizing as Pirates of the Carribean 2, and won't take that long coming out.

Theirs was only external damage. Starscream and Skywarp had most of their innards completely vaporised.

Yea you all make good points but isnt that what you feel in love with and why you like the Transformes today? I've heard a lot of people say they like the origanl TF and not the newer ones, so be glad someones is puting there vaulable time into keeping the G1(etc) TFs 'alive'.

 

Knowning Starscream, Furman will find some way to bring him back. Its like if there no SS the story whaten be comeplete, Megatron would be bord/not a good thing/ me personly i dont get tired of waching Megs kicking SS tail lol.

Well just have to wait and find out what will happen even though we all hate cliffhangers.

commander shockwav you make a good point but, just like a good character they never die. maybe he should just team up with someone new that has fresh ideas then maybe well have something truely great.

can some one tell me why Prowl was being such a jerk to Rachet/i like Rachet/, sub cammander or not. 

I wanna see Optimus tear Prowl a new one for not contacting him immediately and shrugging off Ratchet's concerns.
