was there a combiner out in gen 1 or gen 2, that ruination is a remake of, because he seems awfully familiar, mega octane is what really reminded me of something i used to have when i was a kid

The Combaticons. Who formed briticus. Was an origional transformer, then recolored for G2.

 

Their start is in the ep "Starscream's Brigade"

You can also see them in the first issue of Dreamwave's G1 ongoing series.

Ruination... or actually Bruticus, i think is the single most reused transformers gestalt/combiner that has ever been made and remade and recolored. All in all i think theres at least 7 versions of him (recolors) not including anyones that have plastic/metal part differences. A quick rundown if i can remember.

Methinks they should retire this mold. When you've on the 7th reuse and the best color scheme looks like OTB queso, you've got problems.

7 TOYS, but only 3 different characters.

Bruticus may have began it, but currently Baldigus/Ruination is the owner of that form, and he isnt giving it up without an UGLY fight.

By ugly do you mean Tiger stripes that look like a kid took two clashing crayons from a box and doodled on desert type military vehicles? Then yes UGLY.

 

What vexed me the most was that the overall colors weren't that bad, but the "camo" yuck. And I hate that they still used the goldish-baby poo yellow colored chestplate from a previous issue that didn't work with the colors at all.

Do not forget the version that came pre to Transformers, the later Knock-offs and two versions that are bigger then the original, one at 150% and one at 200% of size and now there seems to be one at 50% size too.

over used yes. but i like them and they had more air time then any other team hell swindle had his own episode when he teamed up with sadam (well not him but they were pritty much the same)

Bruticus, like all of the other scramble-city combiners, was created for the Transformers line. There is no Pre-TF version.

Wish they'd bring back Menasor instead.
