Best--Tidalwave, Jetfire, bendy Prime

 

Worst--It's hard, I liked armada, but if I have to choose...Sideways, or the Street Speed team.

Best - Unicron, no argument here. 17 years of waiting, and did not disappoint many fans, like me.

Worst - Smokescreen, no relation to the name, horrible robot mode IMO worst than Sideswipe. At least Sideswipe had a nice head sculpt.

How is a red and blue racecar any more fitting as "Smokescreen" than a utility truck? G1 is not a factor, because its ARMADA.

 

The best? Probably any decepticon...the figure I liked the most was probably the adventure team set.

 

But I love the whole line...

Would it have killed him if he wasn't named Grapple instead? That's what his Micron Legend name was anyway (or at least close enough, I think it was Grappe or something). They probably had to use the name Smokescreen to keep it the name alive until Binaltech came.

What is so wrong with Smokescreen? He Rocks! That dwarfy little bastard had the coolest weapon, and a powerhouse to boot. A beautiful toy!

Best? Ummmmmmmmm.... Nearly all of them are pretty sweet. Unicron, Smokescreen, Prime, Overload, Jetfire, minicons... all cool.

 

Worst.... Sideswipe. repaints. Goldie Prime.

i don't know if anyone ever asked you this question, Bodycount, and I ask this without any sarcasm:

 

What is it about Energon that appeals to you so much? For me, G1's appeal was the way the robots looked like real vehicles in alt mode, and that they seemed more vehicle than robot in their robot modes. I'm not trying to be insulting, I just want to know. (or paste the link to a post where you mentioned it already.)

The storyline.

the epic feel that most of the show events have.

good drama, good action.

The fact that it's a new series with new things to reveal.

The toy robot designs look like characters BEFORE robots and BEFORE alt modes.

The fun gimmicks(gimme a reason to pick it BACK up off the shelf once I put it there)

 

 

My primary gripe with G1 is not the series, but the people who hold it so highly. Nostalgia is NOT a factor in the value of a product. G1 purists make it so that the fandom is constantly arguing, and they never have anything positive to add besides "G1 was better" or "That sucks because its not G1"...or even "it doesnt look G1 enough". They'll sit and slam a new product for lacking knee joints or for having bright colors, when G1 had about ZERO articulation and CONSTANT uses of bright colors(Wheelie, Springer, Omega, Constructicons..). They're berating a product for being an ADVANCEMENT of the product they cling to, and they can't accept that its changed. It's OLD. It's a tired argument and this fandom isn't going anywhere unless the purist attitude is wiped out entirely. I grew up with G1, so what? I'm tired of G1. I want NEW toys, not the same old thing. When I first got back into Tfs, I got all the G1 I could...but I slowly moved into RID and Armada. I started to realize how much nicer the toys were, even if they had some flaws, at least they had character. The more Armada I gained, the less G1 I wanted. The G1 toys look, to me, like overpriced basics with lousy stickers instead of molded detail and valuable paint applications. As for them looking like real cars, I could care less about it. I prefer fantasy alt modes. They're ALIEN beings, they don't NEED to look like our vehicles. Even so, at the same time, I'm collecting TRANSFORMERS, not model cars. I hate cars, they're boring...Hotwheel collecting looks depressing to me. This also once again plays into the G1 purist. It's okay for G1 characters to have unrealstic alt modes(The War Within) and they praise it to death, but when an Armada or Energon character does, they slam it..know why? They are G1 characters in WWI, not Armada or Energon...It has nothing to do with alt-modes, it's just another poor excuse that they use to push their purist attitudes on the real fans and collectors of the Transformers. But the purists? I feel their reasoning is false because they're a G1 PURIST. Their views, opinions, ideas, and awareness are all falsivities brought on by a narrow viewpoint from a lack of acceptance that things have to CHANGE to exist, and I welcome change...

Okay, I can agree with you on a lot of those points.

 

I always thought in the past you just had it in for G1: I'm glad to see that I was wrong. I don't dislike armada, energon, or RiD. I just prefer G1 better. (actually, I wish they could combine the best out of all the series into one line, but that would probably be unrealistic.)

Best - I really liked Wheeljack despite his transformation requiring the minicon. Tidal Wave comes in a sharp second.

 

Worst - Any of those Beast Wars non story involved punks...

Best: Magna Jet Convoy, Unicron, Tidal Wave alone, MINI-CONS!!!!!

 

Worst: Tidal Wave combined with Megatron, Sideswipe.

 

I quite like all of Armada, though, and even the ones I put as worst still rock. Oh, and everything Bodycount says is gold.

Best would have to be Hoist, Tidalwave in his combined battleship mode, Wheeljack, a lot of the mini cons, Red alert, Hot Shot, Supercon Prime, Superbase Prime in part for his vehicle mode. The worst for me would have to be Cyclonus and Scavenger. Unicron isn't bad, but I don't like him all that much for some reason and Sideswipe isn't all that bad, his car mode at least stands out and Smokescreen is fun. Sideways could have been better and Megatron could have done with knees and no fancy gimmicks with lights and voices and such.
