In all the different eras we have had the decepticons/ have had leaders who looked nothing like g1 Megatron at all (Armada Megatron,Beast Wars 2 confused on his name have heard like 3 different names). Some were better in the series (Beast Wars Megatron) most were better toys ( sorry G1 fans no offense) I would like to see a decepticon leader with loyal troops, a few wins would be nice , and a point other than conquest.

 

I would like to see a different Autobot leader with a different, look, personality :tflaugh than G1 Prime (avoiding g1 purist throwing things) .

 

I would like a change anyone else?

i'm sure G1 rodimus would have worked in a different series. ( w/o all the whiny crap! :D ) after a while, the same old leaders can get a little stale.

Jhiaxus, Shockwave, Thunderwing, Bludgeon, Scorponok, Ratbat, ... have been Decepticon leaders in the G1-G2 comics

Maybe even an homage to Starsaber could work next time around.

 

I think this is a good idea. One of the things that put me off about Beast Wars was the similarity to the orioginal leaders without it actually being them. Luckily, I listed to the "In defense of Beast Wars" post on att and gave it a chance. Now I love all of those characters, but I wouldn't if it hadn't been for the solid writing.

 

I think if they are going to create a new universe every 2 years or so, it would be a good idea to create some newer ideas to pull from later.

Taking away Optimus and Megatron would be like taking Wolverine away from all X-Men projects. It's a risk Hasbro wont take. Especially after what happened when they killed Optimus in the movie.

 

But I do agree that it would be nice to have a new leader and not just Optimus and Megs getting new bodies. If not both of them atleast Megatron should be succeeded atleast for a year or two.
