Does Hasbro do this just to piss us off?

Recommended Posts

Yeah really

I'm just happy that 1) there are toys and 2) they're pretty sweet

So I'm not going to be a Starscream about it

Maybe Arcee is meant to be tall... you don't know for sure since she's not in the movie. :P
Last time I checked, females are shorter than males on average.

And no, I don't give a Blot about arguing about TF genders, I'm just making a statement.

1) They're toys. Meant for children. Not adults trying to make dioramas. This has been going on for as long as the line has existed.
That don't give them an excuse not to try to make them in scale.

Excuse? Scale is not an issue for children. Childrens toys are designed and marketed for children. Scale is an adult issue and as such matters not in the realm of childrens toys. Children just want to play. Size does not matter. Scale does not exist in a realm of toys for childrens play. Tf's have never been in scale. The only thing Hasbro has to take into account is price scale. That's it.

But scale wouldn't get in the way, now would it?

Like I said, it's no excuse.

no, they don't. they do it just to piss you off.

Actually, it would get in the way. Hasbro makes toys in certain sizes to keep them at specific price ranges. Making things more predictable for Children who want the toys and the parents who pay for them. Making toys out of a price scale makes things unpredictable, less affordable and more complicated. From a business standpoint it doesn't make sense to make the toys in scale size, screw up your profits and predictability just to make the 13% collector portion of your marketshare happy and make the remaining dominent % of your market go WTF, why are all these prices screwy?.

That effects what, the jetformers and mergers?

No reason not to make the core group of TFs in scale, since they're not too different in size to each other anyway. And making them out of scale don't "Make things more predictable for Children" at all, and if it did, it don't need to.

transformer toys have never been in scale and never will

also some transformers if scaled down would ether cost too much to make for a common toy or would become too weak to really be a toy like THS 02 as a collectors item its just kick ass but if it were sold in the same style as your main line toys it would have an insane price point and im going to go out on a limb and say that 80% just end up breaking it

It's also no issue.

It's also no issue.
But it gives fanboys like me something to complain and argue about when we're bored :tfevil

It would affect the entire line:

IRL a 76/74 Camaro is much larger than a Solstice. Keeping Jazz at the size he is now you'd have to increase the size of Bumblebee to somewhere inbetween that of a deluxe and a voyager. You'd have to also increase the size of the Saleen Mustang as it falls somewhere inbetween the camaro and the and the Solstice. Doing so would increase the price of each model proportionately to the amount of extra plastic needed to do so. Bumping the price even a few dollars and messing with the parents carefully budgeted pocket books is not a good thing. A difference of two or three dollars makes a helluva a difference in monotary concernes of the average parent when trying to pay for daycare, diapers, car, house, food, blah, blah, blah.....Parents love predictability and practicality. Making the Jets would be totally out of the question as they'd have to larger than even Armada Unicron. Topkick would have to be larger than a voyager and smaller than a leader.

Taking into the above paragraph in terms of a business sense you would have massive amounts of the larger toys not selling because they would be out of the afforable range of most parents and even many average collectors. The reasons for this are increased production costs due to making every single figure a different size translating into nearly unpredictable costs per toy and making any sense of price scaling void and non existant. Parents, children and collectors alike have chosen the deluxe size as thier favorite for overall balance of cost detail and size. Why would a business, who is in the business of making money and gaining profit go against the grain of it's top paying demographic to please the few and lowly Outback collectors? What business in the world makes figures in this manner? What business wants to make things less affordable and more complicated just to please a niche group? From every angle it does not make sense to make transformers in scale with one another. There are many other reasons but I feel what has been provided is sufficient enough to make my point.

I'm not saying I wouldn't like it if they did but I know for damn sure I wouldn't have as many bots in my collection due to the price hike and I sure as hell wouldn't be able to budget for next months toys as the prices for said in scale toys would be all over the place. I do have rent, and a car payment to make.

Even taking all that into account, it wouldn't hurt to make Grimlock a Voyager and Bumblebee a Scout instead of them both deluxes.
They are making Grimlock into a Voyager (see news section for hasbro announcment).

Making BB into a Scout would suck.....his transformation would blow and he'd be ultra ugly. most scout figures suck IMO compared to delxes. There's just not enough detail and the Tformations are too simple for my tastes.

I saw that, can't wait for a decent sized Grim.

As for BB being a scout, I like the little things. He'd be detailed enough for me, at least.
