I just saw a review of this game on TF.COM and I wanted to know if anyone know's if its avalible to buy here in the states or is just a Japan exclusive? I read the reviews and it looks like a pretty cool game that has my beloved g1 charachters in it like Optimus Prime, Megatron, Starscream ect. Now if its avalible to buy I want it, I dont care if I have to buy the damn thing from overseas. Anyone have any info?

Japan exclusive, you can import it though if you don't mind modifying your PS2.

Hey Thad who imports these games here in the States any idea? And whats the deal about modifying my PS2? On TF.COM it said nothing about that.

From what I've heard from various fans who have imported/played it, its not that great as among numberous complaints include:

 

-No Transforming whatsoever

-Many characters, but they all play the same

-Graphics are very weak, more PS1 quality

 

Might want to look into some more reviews before importing or if you really want a good TF game, the Armada one is excellent :thumb

Just go to any gaming vendor like EB or Gamestop who might be willing to order it for you, or search online. And all US native PS2 units apparently require a chip to be installed to the system that will allow it to read CD-Rs and foreign disks, which of course will break the warranty of your system by installing it. And like B.Galv. said, the gameplay is very poor from the reviews. As much as I like G1, it's not worth it to me to buy a PS2, modify it, and import a game with crappy controls.

Ok you and B.G have sold me on the idea of skipping this one. I hear alot of great things about the Armada game and I just might buy that one but I'm not a big fan of Armada TF so I'll think about it. I hope one day they do make a PS2 game featuring the G1 TF.

They transform. But the transformations are near useless. And the glaring issue is that flyers simply hover a few feet off the ground, so you can't even use them for arial maneuvers.

Oh, whoops, my bad. I guess from the guy on 2005 he thought the Transformations were so useless it wasn't worth noting

i'm not a big fan of the armada series, but the game is sweet

ok, I am gonna say that I love this game. Yes Transformers Armada is a crap load better. This game is simply worth it to see all the cgi video of all G1 characters and to follow the storyline for either autobot or decepticon. I could talk about it more but I'll just answer things people want to know.

 

I like the fact that you can upgrade you bots in this game and not the new atari version.

 

I got it through www.ncsx.com I believe but I have seen it on ebay for 50. All you need tto play this game flawlessly is the Swap Magic version 3.0 disk with slide tool. Once you take the face off the cd door of the PS2 and learn how to use the tool It has a better suscess rate than gameshark on all aspects...loading.. and I was available through seaching google for "Swap Magic 3.0" and ran me like 25. or if you dont want the slide tool you can mod ps2 through the swap magic sites to have a flip open tope similar to ps1.

 

This game really is totally worth it and until you actually play it, don't listem to opinions. I listened to the same stuff and got this game, got used to the controls and special moves it was worth it. there are 74 + characters in the game. I hope this helps ya man
