THS 02

Recommended Posts

I'm thinking of picking up THS 02 convoy. he looks pretty good, but what do you guys think?

those of you that have him, is he sturdy?, are teh joints tight? any QA issues I should know about?

hell, if you want to see all 3 of them in person, let me know. I think we can arrange something.

(you are still in KC aren't you???)

:tflaugh I haven't exactly converted mine yet, but she is completely accepting of the TFs thing and she actually knows quite a lot about them really, so I am ok w/ that.

my girl loves the TFs. she works at target in independence, so im always getting cheap TFs from her.

Hey are you guys in MO.? Im in Jeff City former Blue Springs dweller. Anyway, dork to dork, yeah THS-02 is a cool toy but I just kept him in his pakage cuz its a pretty swell box and I dont have any other transformers that are in his size range so...I do wish he was at least 7 inches tall though, Im not "big" on the mini size thing. Hed probably be the best prime ever in he was bigger if that tells you anything.

I'm thinking of getting a THS 02 also. I like that it's small, diecast, and detailed but I'm concerned about the overall look. The knees and wrists look bad in my opinion and I think everyone agrees that the cab is a trainwreck. Does it look better in person?

Should I go for the regular or e-hobby exclusive?

Also, what are the opinions about Robot Masters Prime? From the few pictures I've been able to find, looks like cheap plastic and too simple.

I'm a 25 year old geek that likes toys, I at least want the toys to look grown up too. I my battle damaged 20th prime and masterpiece, but the size is a little too big.

Given the size restrictions the designers had to work with on THS02, I actually don't find the cab to be that big of a trainwreck; that's just a personal opinion though. As for regular versus e-hobby version, that all depends on your preferrence; is the inclusion of two additional rifles, two "anime heads" and the black paint job worth the $80US that THS-02B is going for (as opposed to half that for the regular THS-02)?

Try to get it for $50 you if can. If you wait long enough, you can find one for cheap.

Okay, I've had time to sit down and Mess with the fig last night. Here are some things I dont hear discussed much if at all.

One, He is totally self contained. There is a spot on his trailer for every thing. Even storage for his extra hands. I was shocked to find that, not only did he have the replacable hands in his his packaging but when you open the Trailer storage boxes, there's a second set waiting inside.

Another cool thing, is the hose. I never owned the original but this one is basically a twistie tie. So it's really posable. One cool thing, that could end up being bad is, is his silver metallic finish on his legs, crotch area and all over the trailer. It looks good but I say bad because you have to be very careful with this sort of paint. I remember MP Convoy had the paint in his promotional pics but the final toy is just gray plastic. Im happy they didn't do that here.

This was mentioned else where recently. The ramp on his trailer springs out at the press of a button. the stands on the side of the trailer pop out and retract when you open and close the battle station mode. Roller's launch from the Original Prime's toy is absent (you have to push him your own lazy self).

Roller feels more like a real worthwhile toy now. He's not hollow. When you turn his front or rear tires left or right, the opposite tires move too.

The Jet pack even has features. The exhaust is posable to imatate directional shift in the direction you want Convoy to be going. Not only this but the pack can double as a moc Trailer cooler by attaching to the front of the trailer behind Convoy (in truck mode). His gun even converts so it can attach to Roller or the inside of the trailer.

The Autobot stand has to modes. One, a stand(of course) and if you attach the stand to the back, it becomes a nice little Autobot display.

Convoy himself, is very cool. Even though he basically has the same points of articulation as the MP version, his joints are way more functional. His shoulders have three points and extend away from his body just like MP. Since one of the joints is a ball joint, the armpit joint has been relocated to the inside of his shoulder and the extendable pull out joint extends farther than the MP's extend joint, THS Convoy's arms are way more posable. His waist joint design makes it posible for him to lean forward and backward left and right. His legs are a thing of wonder. He can stands in dozens of ways with out falling on his face. The ankle has the same kind of joint ass Bendy Prime. So now you can finally pose Convoy with toe bent forward. One cool thing you have to be careful with is his grill. Unlike the Mp, he doesn't have a cheat grill. The same grill in the robot mode. The problem is, the grill and the bumper attached to it is plastic and not Diecast. you have to rotate the bumper when you transform it. Imagine some one will break their bumper eventually.

The vehicle mode.............Yeah it sucks just like the pics. You have to have microscopic fingers to attach the arms to the wheel well. Once he's in cab mode, the slightest squeeze makes him look smashed and even more fugly.

I didn't mean for this to be a review but what the hell. I give his bot mode and acessories a 10 out of 10, IMO. Vehicle mode cab alone, I give a 3. They didn't even give em fake doors or side windows. Now Cab attached to the trailer, because of the trailer's coolness I guess I'd bump it maybe a 7.
