Phat Phree's list of worst TFs/gobots ever

Recommended Posts

Dinobots are all right. In the comics they were on earth in pre-historic times and in the cartoon they were a pet project of Wheeljack's.

Perceptor is all right too. So he turned into a piece of science equipment, so what? He still had a robot mode. And his transformation scheme also gave him great articulation for a G1 toy.

So Bumblebee was VW Beetle, so what? It was an old-school Beetle. I think he's confused the new one with the classic, with his, "Shouldn't a 16-year old chick be driving you to the mall?"

As for the Go-Bots, there is no excuse for them. Scooters are already stupid looking vehicles. I'd walk before riding on one of those. And whoever thought of making robots that change into rocks must have some rocks inside his head.

well, if he was g1 bumblebee he wouldn't be able to do anything without another autobot's help and would get captured by decepticons within the first 15 minutes

:tflaugh yeah, as if any 16-year-old chick would have been caught dead in a VW Beetle in the 80's. And not that they were even making those cars then...

I hope Bumblebee sucks in the movie, b/c then who would be the inept spy to be inexplicably sent on a spy mission anyway, just to get captured and eventually escape and add nothing else to the story?

This guy sounds really angry over a 20 year old toy line directed to elementary school kids. It's like:

"How can they call it MY LITTLE PONY????? The things have NO articulation whatsoever!!!!! OMG!!!!! $#!&%

Yeah, and even if we are to take that article as humor, why so much anger? One would assume that he wouldn't take that stuff too seriously, but he appears to be doing that with his ranting.

Yeah, sort of like all the frustrated explaining away of his thoughts in this thread! Haha!

Wait...

I BET ALL THAT EXPLAINING MUST BE REALLY FRUSTRATING FOR YOU

and so on and so on

funny to a degree, tried to hard imo.

Fanboy rants are rofflez.

My take.

Dinobots never were a huge favorite of mine because as he said they were all Powerglideing retarded. It was the comics that actually helped me not to hate them quite so much.

Perceptor. So he transformed into a microscope rather than something cool. Personally I never had a problem with Peceptor being a microscope. Hit alt mode fit what he was & that was a chief scientist so in that respect it makes sense. I mean what was he supposed to be a third ambulance alongside both Ratchet, & FirstAid. It was a cartoon hardly worth an anerism.

Bumblebee. For the love of God leave the little guy alone already. This was a mid 80s cartoon & Bumblebee was basically the throw away kiddie favorite as with any other 80s show. personally if I had the choice of using either Gobot's Scooter, MASK's TBob, Drids C3PO/R2D2 pairing or TFs Bumblebee, Bumblebee would win hands down because unlike the other too poor placed kiddie delights Bumblebee isn't an absolute Powerglidetard. Hardly a threat but aside from being the one to relate to the kids on a human level I recall Bumblebee doing a lot more than getting captured & locked up by the Decepticons in every episode. Maybe the artical contributer got Bumblebee mixed up with that niece character in Inspector Gadget who always got caught & locked up. Heh, & she was the smart one apparently.

Scooter of the Gobots. Hard to believe but not even TBob can match the gheyness of this character. not that scooters aren't cool as minor characters such as Armada's Sureshock but as a main character alongside a sports car, & fighter jet, laughable. I was not a big fan of challenge of the Gobots.

Rocklords. Rocks that turn into robots, & robots that turn into rocks. It's like the movie where the guy was proposing toys be transformable buildings. How's that fun for kids? "I just don't get it." The explanation for it is a little over the top in the artical & IMO can be simplified to just Tonka wanting to cash in on the pet rock phase. I mean why not. pet rocks already sell so why not toy rocks that turn into robot warriors n such.

The list isn't completely flawed, him being right about Gobots & teh Rock Lords but what about transforming gestalt lions, as well as power zords that are anything from an assortment of b budget scifi vehicles or dinosaurs or whatever the hell they are now a days.

I have to agree about Bumblebee. His greatest redeeming quality was that he wasn't f*cking annoying as hell, unlike just about all of the 1985 minibots and all of the 1986 Autobots. I never cringed at anything Bumblebee said when I was watching Transformers in earshot of my parents, but Grimlock and his buddies.... oy.

So he's got that going for him. Which is good.
