Carnarge in C-minor...

Recommended Posts

I've always noted that my dislike of the G1 toon is the lack of character development, but instead they give us character quirks. Characters leave the show in the exact state that they appeared: Stereotypical and immature to be war machines for millions of years. Then I realized...Soundwave! Up until that episode, he was a lifeless brick that spoke in a synthesis tone. But in Carnage in C-Minor, I think I qouted him as saying "It is the most beautiful sound I have ever heard."

Think about that...Soundwave just showed that he's more than brute. He has a passionate attraction to music and he was OVERWHELMED by the beauty of that song they were sending across the universe....That is character development, in the worst episode in History...so Soundwave went off the show with a bang, I think.

LOL The show sucks and it is cool to see a soft side of the tape guy. No offense to the ppl who believe that the generation 1 cartoons are the best, but they have the cornest stories either! I am certain there are other character development hidden in each ep.

I agree. I don't know where people get the idea that the G1 show is a classic work of art. It really isn't. But it's a lot of fun to watch, it's full of that same goofy 80's charm that makes GI Joe so much fun. And the characters are way more interesting than most other cartoons from back in the day. I guess I enjoy G1 shows the same way I enjoy Godzilla movies.

Hear hear! It's nostalgic campy fun, and nothing more. Enjoy it for what it is, don't put it on some pedastal is doesn't belong on :D

It is classic (to me anyway.) The newer shows are too anime-ish for me. All that posing and especially the kid involvement. I agree G1 isn't the best show ever, but it's better than most of the stuff out now. I don't hate anime by an means (DBZ rules!). I'm just sick of almost everything being anime.

Yeah, the character development was lame for a lot of the characters. Sunstreaker is seen as just being vain. But in reality Sunstreaker is more like a sociopath. Prowl is supposed to be somewhat overbearing as well. And as for Gimlock, they made him into some low I.Q. dummy. A few others include: Mirage, Bluestreak, and Shockwave, just to name a few.

first of all everyone needs to remember this was the 80's.

cartoons now have evolved and advanced so much.

to compare the two is like asking who would win in a boxing match, between Ali and Tyson in their primes.

Osideous, I am know it is old but that's not the point. I am stating that there are some folks who thinks this as the greatest transformer series of all time and say the other transformers series is crap. Yes, it's people's opinion, but there are others who thought all the human interaction in energon was dumb though g1 has the same element.

Swifting gears here, I was a big fan of the original tmnt animated series. Though I was a big fan, I think the new show is ten times better than the old one. I am not bashing the new cartoon since it is not like the original show(the new series actually follows the original plot before the early 90's cartoon or the crappy Archie comics version. It is like people bashing energon and not giving it a chance simply because it is not G1. But if you want to talk about the differences in time and such:

Although, it Tf was made in the 80's, there have been shows that were more serious like "Robotech," "Captain Planet," "Thundercats," and maybe "Voltron." Thundercats was a better cartoon than TF though it had some sort of corny humor in it (like Beast wars.) They were somewhat aimed for children but the plots were better. I think they tried to make TF a comedy like the early 90's Disney cartoons with action. However, their way didn't work. The guys who wrote the Beast Wars series actually made the child aimed humor with serious action work.

Even during the 80's/90's I thought g1 was overrated. I remember watching the g2 shows when I was little and was going WTF? Episodes such as Megatron being loved by humans and Galvatron talking to a shrink were lame. I actually liked the other farfetched eps when I was longer such as when they fought the cavemen and other guys from the time portal. You are right on cartoons being different during that time, but there were a lot of stupid WTF episodes that doesn't make sense to kids. Even the old Scooby doo shows made sense to me besides the talking dog.

There are some good eps in TF. not sure how many. Some of the g1 cartoons may be ahead of it's time. The movie even though having a simplistic and lame plot, is probably the best part of the series since it had a more mature sense. Beacause of anime, some of the cartoons are getting more mature which is why Robotech is in my list. I am just stating that g1 should be dubbed the greatest TF series of all time even though it is clearly not. It is like saying Justice Friends is ten times better than the new Justic League animated show. Greatshot puts it best when saying, "Enjoy it for what it is, don't put it on some pedastal [it] doesn't belong on."
