first time Kitbashing question

Was wondering if anyone can tell me a safe way to remove the pins used to hold parts together. I am wanting to do some modifying and repainting to Classics Megatron and want to remove the wings/trigger assembly from the figure where the assembly meets Megs butt. I tried a small punch and hammer, but I can't create a stable area to work on where I'm not putting excessive strain on the figure. I hope to avoid breaking the assembly. I don't plan to put it back on, but I also would like to keep in one piece incase I want to do anything with it later.

Tried a soldering iron with a fine tip? You could go that route, pushing the pin out enough with the hot iron until you can grab it with pliers.

Thought about that, but was worried the heat would cause plastic distortion and if I ever put it back together that the pin would no longer stay in place.

As long as its a straight pin, (no head on it) Pushing it out a little with the iron shouldn't affect it. The plastic, once cooled will retain most of its original shape.

Just heat it enough to get one end to start coming out so you can grab it with the pliers, (I use needle nose pliers) once you can grab it with the pliers, use a twisting, pulling motion to get it to come free.

this guy knows what he's talking about

after trying everything i could to get the pins out to fix gasket's rear wheel this was the only thing that worked for me. as long as you odn't hit the plastic with the iron your good to go. also, you should use pliers to put the pin back in so you can seat it good.

youd have to go wit the solderin iron on that part

megs is a pain in the ass to get that pin out, ive hammered that pin for hours with no luck.
