If they are Chinese in origin, they would have originally came with a small sticker in Chinese in the upper right corner. Even if they're Chinese in origin, though, it's hard to tell if they're actually knockoffs. TFs were actually legitimately released in China with the small Chinese sticker in the early 1990's. One way to tell the knockoffs from the legitimate releases is that the "Copyright Hasbro Takara" on the card/box will be blacked out sometimes on the knockoffs. But whether it's an American release, Chinese release, or knockoff, they were all made by the same factory using all the original molds and other materials, so they should be pretty much identical to one another. There's really no big difference.

 

On the other hand, the recent knockoffs out there... Optimus, Frenzy/Laserbeak, Beachcomber, Swoop, etc... those reportedly use the same molds but they're of slightly inferior quality (paint issues, stickers cut poorly, sharp edges on tape weapons, etc.) and the packaging is, apparently, not made from the original materials. So those are much more knockoffy than the knockoffs with Chinese stickers.

I'm hoping to get about $125 a set......these are in C-9 or C-10 condition and i was going to get them AFA certified but i can't find anywhere to do that. Let me know if your interested

that is more than I am willing to pay on these two - again - I am gonna open em anyway - I will hold out for good conditions that are already opened - I don't really wanna pay that much - I got the other two pretty cheap so hopefully I will get lucky on these too - but good luck -they look awesome, someone is gonna be stoked to get those.
