I just think something like that needs an explanation. They make the fembots look like naked women (right?), but the male robots look like guys with armor on. And yes, I do realize that Blackarachnia was the worst offender of all (having specifically been modeled after a stripper), but still there's some strange inequity in how female/male robot characters are designed.

To me the G1 Fembots all seemed to be wearing armor too.

Particularly Chromia, Moonracer, Firestar, and Elita-1...who all looked like they had armored breast-plates, shoulder pads, knee pads, and stylized helmets.

Real armor isn't form-fitting like that, though. A female soldier looks the same as a male soldier, when they have all their gear on. I just think it's a typically male thing about identifying women by their sexuality as opposed to anything else.

K...but none of the males had armor that looked anywhere near the same (other than it was blocky-ish). So I kinda fail to see the point of this, cause stuff that looks like armor in TF's really is just a design aesthetic for that character, most of the time it isn't actual armor, since it's really their skin anyways (sure made of different materials or designs for various desired effects).

Which is my point. Take a look at your comic book characters. How many male characters show as much skin as the average female character? It's all about cleavage and skimpy outfits for the girls, but nine times out of ten your male characters are fully clothed and wearing other stuff as well. The same sensibility is used with Transformers. Chicks are there to be looked at; guys are there to be respected.

While I think you are right...I don't want to admit it.

Should I blow it all on 1 $300 hooker bot, or 300 $1.00 hooker bots?

But it's only a "male character" if you consider Slugslinger and her in the same continuity. It could very well be a "female" body in the continuity that Airazor toy is set in.
That don't make any sense. That's like saying any man's body could be considered a female's body in another "continuity"(universe). That's impossible because male bodies are totally different from female bodies. Air's body has the same shape and build as SS's, and therefore it can only be one gender.

What's sick is robots who look like sexually mature females. They're freaking robots; do you expect them to have metal vaginas or something?
Yes.

Cybertron Override FTW
Not a female. There's NO way to say he is.

Bah! All your arguments fail against Strika!
Not a female...

Oh now you went and edited your post... :blueface

all this dogmatism about robot gender is silly. They're friggin robots. Even if they had gender (whatever that would even mean for a non-reproducing being), who's to say it would look like human gender? Women have boobs and big butts because of children. Robots don't have kids or breastfeed or any of that stuff.

Black Arachnia's original toy was just a straight-up repaint of Tarantulas, but I never had a problem with it being female. Airazor's original toy didn't look femine at all. I had no problem with BW Inferno becoming a female character for Botcon. I had no problem with Override being female. Why, because I've seen guys that look like girls and girls that look like guys in real-life.

Besides, I've always considered a transformers "sexuality" to be a matter of choice. A bot may like the way females act and then choose to emulate that personality/look. It's pretty easy for me to look at a bot and go, "they say it's a chick, that's cool with me".

If nothing else, they represent human females. I mean the TFs are already humanoid aliens, there's no reason not to go one step further and use human genders.

And the same thing goes with any humanoid robots. Do Gundams really NEED heads? Yes, because they(humanoid robots) represent the human form, and some of us value that image.
