Okay, what happened to us getting different primes? First, Optimus. That was good for a while. Then in the movie, we got a fresh change to Rodimus. But after that, we didn't get another new Prime. Instead, Optimus not only returned, but he's been the star of every series since!

 

Let's compare the situation to Star Trek. It'd be like Captain Kirk comming back to life and being in EVERY future Trek series and movie instead of any new Captains. And we all know Kirk's an icon/legend... Optimus is too, and has no excuse for hogging every series like he's been doing.

 

Now if Hasbro just needs to restore trademarks, they can just release new versions of Prime, similar to Pepsi Prime, G2 Hero Prime, etc, so they'll keep the name. But we need new Primes. Now I know that the newer series takes place in other dimensions and there's an Optimus in each, but it's getting old after G1.

It would be nice to see hasbro or takara flex their creative muscle to bring us a new Prime, but if we get a new prime we need a replacement for Megs as well. I have no idea what they'd do with the storyline, though. And to touch on your Kirk simile, just think of it as Kirk leaving the nexus and not being killed to be in the future encarnations of Star Trek. Wasn't there a book after Generations that chronicled the return of Kirk anyways?

 

And when the hell was that two pack released? I need those after I so foolishly sold mine from rid.

I dunno, I haven't been a trekkie in years. But I admit that Kirk woulda made Enterprise(the series) 1,000x better.

You've just described my reasons for hating Optimus Prime. The legions of people who perpetuates this problem only make things worse.

I'm all for change. I was totally hoping for a Cheetor-Prime in the BM-Transtech arena. But I guess that's still basically Hot Rod, isn't?

Hasbro needs to have the guts to make a new Prime. Sadly, I don't see them changing something that is obviously working for them.
