Tek* Megatron Art

Recommended Posts

Hola:

Here are some of my Transfomers fanart. This one is Megatron in tank form (nothing new here but still cool... at least for me...). I just wanted to draw a Megatron tank using elements that I liked, regardless of originality or over use.

This one combines many elements, some borrowed from previous releases, but I tried to implement as many "original" ideas as possible, but I am not that imaginative and my tastes is so limited I may involuntarily be copying stuff already used. In any case I got great joy doing it and that's what matter. ^_^

Well, there are some elements that fials to satisfy me from this desig:

1.) The Legs: I designed that way based on the Energon Combaticons Kickback and Blight; I just wanted the feet to be larger than the G2 versions ever were and that part of it would form the plating of the tank on vehicle mode. But the final result was not very satisfying. :tfmad

2.) The Head: Too BIG. Period!!! I may need to redraw it. >_<

Anyway, I decided to make three versions of the design:

Black and White verison (lineart).

This is the original drawing I made, retouched with Microsoft's Paintbrush. This way I tred to correct some of the lines that were no to straight. I do NOT use rulers when drawing.

Colored Verions Mk. I (G2 Green).

This isthe first colorization I made of the drawing. A G2-like green. Not 127% as the Ge Megatron, though, as I wanted to add some grey/silver elements to the scheme. Curious note is that it looks like the upcoming Ultimate Battle Classics Megatron!

Colored Verions Mk. II (G1 Silver/Grey).

Second coloration I made based On the G1 color scheme. I used the boxart for reference but due to the impossibilty of Paintbrush of copying the colors to match 100% the original using "Pick Color", I have to take several liberties and come up with similar colors. :tfsad

Despite those facts, I am still very proud of mny work and decided to share it with you. I am not whoring for attention but please leave some comments. :tftongue

PS: :con

(* haven't come with a specific idea to justify the name)

I think the design is very nice overall! You did a great job of making it definitely Megatron without making it a re-hash of everything we've seen before. The side-vents on his hips are a nice detail in particular- I can't think of a Megs design we've ever seen those on before.

Personally, I would keep at it myself until I got a rendering I liked, but if you're crunched for time or just totally impatient (like me :P) then maybe someone here on the boards can take a crack at working up a better drawing for you.

You think so? Sounds good. ^_^

The idea on this case was to make them missile launchers, like Beast Wars Megatron. Msaybe I'll change the front panel or make it a hatch. Or should it work as a laser gun?

I am pretty satisfied with the result but I think you're right. Though I don't think I'll ever get any better than this I still want to learn to make my drawing as good as the art I have seen posted on the net. I want them to have a very profesional look. Not only color-wise, but "lineart'wise" as well. In part the reason for posting is to get feedbacks and suggestions on how to improve.

PS: I am as desperate as you are! :P

Hola, De nuevo.

I was bored and did two more recolors:

Colored Verions Mk. III (Black).

th_Tekmeg-colorblack.jpg

With all black repaints of TF figures I thought making a Megatron black wouldn't hurt. :P Actually, makes it more evil, I think.

Colored Verions Mk. III (Black + Purple).

th_Tekmeg-colorblackpurple.jpg

The reason of being of this variation is because so far I was coloring Megatron with too much red (him being a Decepticon, and all :con ). So I decided to risk it and replace red with purple. Does it look neat or am I loosing it (personally i think I have already lost it! :tflaugh1 )

Note: As you may notice, I modified the legs. Now the feet don't have toes and there's (sort of) a plate in front of the leg simulating a connector for the tank threads/missile launchers attached to the leg. This I did to make the leg look less "skinny" and more "G1-accurate".
