The word 'knock off' is probably incorrect here (these are not pre-existing designs belonging to another company being recreated illegally), but there's no way that this company has obtained any licensing agreement from Toyota, Mitsubishi or VW (which owns Lamborghini).

I am not 100% sure why you would assume this. You are saying that there is NO WAY these are licensed? I think it would be very hard for any company to put logos on a product, be able to distribute them worldwide and not be subject to being sued.

These ARE licensed from the Manufacturers. They are legal to be sold worldwide. True, some of the inital styling may have been borrowed from Alt/BT designes but all the newer items are their own styles and designs. Again, true, their background does derive from Knock Off type of product but this line is truely their own line. A lot of work and effort has gone into getting the licenses for these cars and the newer designs have also taken a lot of effort.

Having an opinion is one thing but stating opions as facts is another.

Also, not sure how many of you realize there are OTHER toys out there as well as Transformers, Car companies give their license to all kinds of crap out there. Next time you are looking for toys, check out some of the crap die cast that is out there with car logos on them. You think they are all Knock Offs? Everything that is sitting in Wal Mart or TRU is Knock Offs? Licenses are a great way to get your name out there without you having to pay for it and many car companies just let people do whatever without a whole lot of aproval just to help visibility.

These are licensed. End of story.

In other words you called the car companies themselves and asked if they licecensed these right? I just have a hard time accepting things like this are legit. Especially from a company like Happywell that's known for it's knock-offs. Companies in China put offical logos and copyright information on there products all the time, and that product may still be a KO. Refer to my post about DVD's for my point on that.

Other than that I do wish these guys were the same scale has Alts so I could build my army up with some generic figures.

At this point as Happywell's only official distributor for these in North America, I can assure you that they ARE indeed licensed.

You may also notice that they are priced a lot more than other toys of theirs in the past. This would be due to licenses. It costs a lot more to produce a product with a license than without. These would be about $10 less without license.

Do you honestly think Alts are WORTH $20 each? The cost of these is very tiny to produce. It is the name on the package you are paying for.

Spencer.

Last I checked Hasbro hasn't done a Hummer Alt. So it would not be a knockoff if it doesn't exist on a another company.

I guess I stand corrected about these being licensed. My assumptions were based on 1) Hasbro making it seem like pulling teeth to obtain licenses 2) Rumor regarding VW being unwilling to license their products to anything involving war (though I guess these robots are not specifically stated as combatants - of course, they're pretty heavily armed not to be) and 3) These are manufactured in China, where making these products sans license would be very minor compared to what else goes on over there. But if they got the licensing, then good for them.

"In other words you called the car companies themselves and asked if they licecensed these right?"

Have YOU?

I didn't think so

"These things come out of China where no company follows copyright rules and knockoffs are actually decently made."

what's this whole china defense about, EVERYTHING is made in china lol hasbro toys, takara toys, authentic, knock off, they all comes from the same place. Just depends wether the company is making them legally or not. which in this case, happywell are making these toys 100% legally.

see, I think where you are getting mis-informed here, is you read a lot of message boards filled with a lot of people who have nothing to do with any of these companies, and probably don't know the first thing about running a business.

If you stick to what the message board people tell you, Volkswagon is a dictactor company that wants nothing to do with war or weapons, and anything the CEO's say is law, and because VW say they don't want their cars associated with war, then none of the companies they own are allowed either. which simply isn't true. Volkswagon do own Lamborghini, but Lamborghini is still its own company and can do what it wants. You don't see the VW name on Lamborghini products, now do you. Also just because a company says something at one point in time, doesn't mean they can't change their mind later down the road. They can do what ever they want the liscences, that's the beauty of owning them.

Happywell Roadbots are simply competition, that's all, and its absolutly silly to get upset that they made a Lamborghini, and Hasbro didn't. I'm not saying you are upset peteynorth, but I've read some peoples thoughts on the toys, and you just have to laugh at them.

"I hate them cuz they aren't 1:24 scale to go with my alternators!" lol

Its also possible that Hasbro simply botched the pitch or wasnt ready to pay the fee's associated with VW or, anything really.

Just cause Archer wont deny that our wild INTERNET speculation is false doesnt make that whole war weapons an official story from Hasbro or VW.

BTW- i think the happywell's are fugly beyond belief and one of the things working against them is the size.

Out of curiosity's sake, where does it say these are not licensed? Just wondering.

But then again, I rather stick to the stereotype that everything in PRC is KO otherwise my sense of reality would go Bizarro on me.
