Primus with Unicron head is a Hasbro initiative, whereas the Takara version has never had a Unicron head. But, you have to remember, Hasbro doesn't operate in just the U.S.

 

All those shelf-warming Primus's are, I reason, first wave Primus' from which just too many cases were ordered.

I don't know how rare he is but my son is getting him w/ head for Christmas.

A month or so ago I spotted two w/heads at the wally world here. I went back a couple of days later with some cash for layaway and they were gone. So I've just decided to see if the regular will be a shelf warmer for perhaps a cheaper price.

Got mine though BBTS and glad I did. The coolest thing about that was they had with and without head for the same price in stock so it's a no brainer. Also after shipping, conversion and an added Excellion (now freaking everywhere) it came to about a little more than Canadian retail. Big win/win. :D

 

As for it being worth it. Totally. Love Primus but the head actually surprised me. I basically understood it was one molded chunk of rubber. Heh, that's the fandom for you. :roll The tentacals, and horns yes but everything else is beautifully molded, detailed, and painted out of pretty high grade plastic. Doesn't do anything but look cool but then again Primus doesn't do much either other than look really cool posed on a shelf. :thumb

 

Oh not saying Primus sucks, far from it I just don't see a point in transforming him when the bot mode totallt dominates.
