Got second wave 6" titaniums

Recommended Posts

Hi guys,

received jetfire and thundercracker through the post today. They're the first titaniums I've bought and also the first of any size class I've seen in the flesh/metal so I thought I would post a quick review of them. I haven't got any pics but there's nothing I could photograph that isn't already on the net anyway.

First things to note are the size of the boxes - bigger than I expected. Also a lot heavier as are the figures - they certainly did use a lot of die-cast on them. The boxes themselves are rather unique to the TF line. Rather than being a generic box with the name and picture changed, the actual colour and design of the box is tailored to the figure itself. The cardboard tab that adjoins the platic window on the top of jetfires box is shaped and drawn to match his rear boosters, whereas the sides of the box show the yellow rockets on his chest. Thundercracker is much this same - this is a great bit of detailiing which really makes them feel like individual collectors pieces not just toys.

To the toys themselves - I warn you that if you dislike twist ties with a passion these may well give you a nervous breakdown. It took me ten minutes to undo each package!!!!!! Both of the toys have awesome paint jobs. I know some people dislike die cast but it has to be said that the paint on the metal looks great. The detailing and shading of the pain is also fantastic and gives the figures a worn appearance, like they've actually been in battle and not just walked off the production line.

Jetfire - Arms are quire posable as are the legs (which have a ball joint for a knee!) and appearance wise the only thing I dislike is the uber-slim waist with the landing gear protruding. Bad points first - the metal backpack (boosters, wings) falls off very easily due to the heavy die-cast and weak connector. You also have to remove it to transform him which s a bit disappointing. Secondly, the 2 guns are very flimsy and have to be bent a bit to make them straight. (but they can be combined to form one twin gun) Also, when in jet mode the wings are a little off centre so he looks a bit wonky. All that being said he's actually a great figure and the good vastly outweighs the bad. He has enough posabilty to enjoy both as a display piece and as a toy. Until classics arrives this is certainly the finest jetfire since G1. 8/10

Thundercracker - When I first saw the pics I hated the grey head and arms, but now I've seen him they actually look just fine. Bad first - the arms have very little articulation at the shoulders and so he has even less posability than galaxy force stascream in that area. (although the legs are fine) Alt mode is good except that the rear section is a little empty beneath the vertical wing - basically his shoulders move up and there's just a big gap with his head in beneath the jet. Only other thing is that his guns are a little short - I hoped they might extend but no joy I'm afraid. Anyway, as with jetfire the pros outweigh the cons and he looks great in both modes. Paint is great and it's a very accurate interpretation of WW thundercracker. (he also stands a head shorter than jetfire which is good) 8/10

I'd recommend these figures to any TF fan, especially those who like G1 or war within. I'm sure that they won't be a disappointment to anyone.
