Your Ideal TF origins (if you were making the movie)

Recommended Posts

okay, say you were asked to write the TF script... what explenation would you give for a sentient robotic life form to come into being?

I always thought it would be cool if the original 13 transformers had actually come from Earth's distant future and got stuck in the past. Not wanting to interfere with earth's time line, they "terraform" a planet in the far reaches of the galaxy to fit thier unique needs and begin reproducing the technique used to create them to make other robots, but something in their program requires them to create forms of life with alt modes such as themselves that have ways of transporting carbon based life. (hense car seats and stuff).

If I were writing the movie, "from another planet" would suffice, and I'd save the big "Origins of Cybertron" discussion for the second or third movie.

That having been said, I've always liked the "Cybertron is a robot factory built by the Quints whose own creations drove them away and engaged in a civil war" story...

HR, do you remember the Terminator/Planet of the Apes idea I PM'd you about?

not that that helps anyone else

Personally, I think "thirteen original Transformers" sounds a bit too mythological. I like robots to be robots and stuff.

okay I'm trying to remember my idea.... VERY basically it was that people created mech suits of various types for warfare, they were eventually upgraded with more and more AI, you get the idea... anyway, production was moved to the moon after an attack on a facility on Earth, the moon gets turned into a gigantic factory for these things, they produce a central computer capable of creating better AI for the mechs, the mechs become sentient (of course) and carry out their function, which is to kill people, so they kill all of humanity and destroy the Earth. So the moon-factory eventually becomes Cybertron, the central computer is Vector Sigma, and so on. In the movie the TFs would come to Earth inadvertently by traveling through some wormhole or something, hence them not traveling very far distance-wise... so basically the secret in the movie would be that these Transformers have come from the future, and that their ancestors were created by humanity and were responsible for the destruction of the earth (in the near future or whatever). I had envisioned someone traveling to Cybertron and going down to the lowest levels of the planet and finding abandoned areas with stuff written in English, big ZOMG freak-out moment, etc.

anyway that was all I ever came up with, I never figured out what to do next :tflaugh

it seems you and i are on similar trains of thought... it is just adds alot more to the relationship of the TFs to humans to earth if that is where they came from.

the whole thing came out of this "why the frick would they have passenger compartments" question I had... the idea was that it was as close as the TFs ever got to "religion" in that it was something that had always been done and they felt that there was a reason for it even though they didn't understand why

i guess i am more traditional in my TF history...

i kinda like the idea that they are NOT from earth, and NOT friends with Ziggy or scott bakula.

just you know - robots from another planet. Ofcourse (unlike madhammer?) i am not offended by the idea of machines being sentient and having a god thats not mine.

yeah that's where my thought process was too

"Why do we continue to build ourselves with these... compartments?"

"Because we must."

I love the idea of deep seeded programming that they have no idea why or where it came from

that was the best aspect of the Quintesson origin IMO... the idea that none of the TFs had any fricking clue where they came from

i love the idea of a mechanical being being more than the sum of his programming. (Robocop/the Oracle/Dr from voyager/Date etc etc)

I like to think that souls aren't exclusive to humans and that they override any sort of programming.
