If we'd had the interweb

Would we all be posting about how much we hated these reports that Prime was going to die?

Just a thought, to put the current rumblings into perspective

In 1986 we would have been too young to be allowed on message boards.

MOST of us were probably too young to be allowed on message boards. That better? :tfevil

it was the death of Prime that created most of the hatred that tf fans have for change. those fans are worried that if they let Hasbro take too much creative license with the franchise, they'll kill off Prime again.

By the time the movie came out, I was six, so, no. The majority of Transfans were kids during the '80s, not teenage geeks.

I also saw Transformers the Movie when it came out on home video. Furthermore, I never cared that Optimus Prime was killed in the movie. It was just a part of the story as far as I was concerned.

We would have been OMG TOYS ARE SO FUN

Hint: I only watch the first circa 25 minutes of the movie. Right until Prime dies. This is the only good part of the movie IMO; the rest is simply completely uninteresting to me (only when HotRod faces Galvatron is my interest somewhat awakened, but that fight is way too short to get really interesting).

Add to that that I never cared for Prime.

So if the internet had existed at the time, my response probably would've been something like:

Prime dies? YES, finally !!!! :thumb

(Wish the internet had existed at the time, because then I would've bought that red tracks and that Thundercracker in a Starscream box. Now I was like: "Sh!t, why do we get a red tracks, I want a blue one because he should be blue" and, "man do we finally get a thundercracker is he packaged in the wrong box and no doubt with the wrong stickers".)

I'm just saying, that in 20 years time, will we care that the TF's in the new film look like they do?

That was a hell of a hard thing to say, having just seen the pictures for movie Megs.
