Combiners

Recommended Posts

I notice with a lot of the G1 Combiners that you can mix and match the arms and legs. Do you try and make them more show accurate or just follow the instructions. I know with my Menasor I just got I made Dead End and Dragstrip the arms and Wildrider and Breakdown the legs like on the DW #6 Decepticon cover. I think it looks much better that way than what the instructions were saying to have it Dragstrip and Breakdown as the arms.

If I remember correctly the only ones that didn't have interchangeable arms and legs were Devastator and Predaking am I right?

What does everyone else do for their combiners.

Thats cool, I would probally do the same if I had any Gen1 Combiners.

The only scramble city style combiners I have are G2 Superion and Bruticus.

For Bruticus, I just follow the instructions, and have Blast Off as the right arm, Vortex as left, Brawl as left leg, Swindle as right.

I don't remember what the instructions say for Superion, but I use Airraid and Skydive as legs, and Fireflight and Slingshot (extended, not compressed, otherwise they're too stubby looking) as arms.

I usually stick with instructions, but Menasor is the one I find that gets mixed up the most. Piranacon sometimes gets interchangeable, depending on who is the gun.

And yes, Predaking and Devestator are the only two without interchangeable limbs.

Technically, with the Predacons, you can swap the two arms with each other, or the two legs. However, the legs don't clip in quite as securely when you swap them, but they wont fall off or anything. devestator on the other hand, no swapping allowed what so ever.

With the combiners, I try to use whichever ones look the best as far as adding needed bulk to certain areas. Or I won't put ones where they look bad. Example, DONT USE BLOT AS A LEG. That blue, what ever he turns into, guy looks horribly fat and scarey as a leg, so he's an arm. Also, with Abominus, I wont use Cutthroat as an arm because from the side, it's waaay too skinny.

I just like to keep things the way they're supposed to be with Combiners even though it doesn't work for some figs.

BTW - this is my first post here :) It looks like another great TF forum. I also post on the new Dreamwave Boards and tfw2005 :)

welcome to the boards Master Jetfire

can they combine with other combiners say like we have brawl as the right leg hungurr as the body dead end as the left leg and so and so can they?

Of course.

Superion, Menasor, Abominus, Computron, Brutacus, Defensor, and Piranacon can all interchange limbs if you want.

>> Do you try and make them more show accurate or just follow the instructions.

Half/half. I assamble them the way they look cooler and have more stability when standing up. My Defensor has some issues when standing up, soI have to do some minor adjustments. But we're talking about a bootleg here, so maybe that can be the reason.

I haven't had that problem with my Bruticus, but if that happens, it might be because mine is an amalgamation of G1/G2/RiD parts. BTW, I have Vortex and Brawl on the left side because they're both RiD versions.

Talking about that, I tried to fit Armorhide's back guns into G1 Brawl and I had problems fitting the pegs on the hole. Have this happened to any of you?

>>> I think it looks much better that way ...

I agree. Drag Strip as arm looks very nice.

>> if I remember correctly the only ones that didn't have interchangeable arms >> and legs were Devastator and Predaking am I right?

Yes. Though I can only talk about Devastator, both cannot swap limbs. Same for Monstructor.

I don't do much with them, as I have them on display.
