It appeared that mostly everyone (Decepticons and Unicron included) except the actual Matrix bearers had any clue as to the true nature of the Matrix. The way everyone else acted, it seemed like they were basing things on legends, hearsays or presumtions. Such as the presumtion that anyone could carry it, and that killing someone would "destroy" the Matrix.

I'm sure Unicron knew something, but didn't know exactly.

 

 

Of course, if you look at other continuities, there's the whole Astral Plane Primus form looking like Rodimus, so it's more than possible he recognized the form.

 

Let's just keep the superstition angle out of this: There is no Primus, Unicron was invented by a monkey, and the Matrix was simply a self-destruct device that came to be worshipped by a bunch of ignorant robots after they rebelled against their creators.

It always bothered me that the autobots went in through the eye. At one point, Unicron was firing lasers out of his eyes. So, isn't that like trying to get inside by going in through the gun barrel?

Question: did he ever kill anything with those lasers or was he just putting on a funky light show?

The answer is "funky light show"; he only inflicted actual damage via his hands of doom and stuff.

1. Galvatron had just rebelled against Unicron and attempted to use the power of the Matrix against him.

 

2. Galvatron, still carrying the Matrix, had just met up with an Autobot.

 

3. Unicron safely assumed that said Autobot was no friend of Unicron, seeing as he had gotten in via a spaceship to the eye.

 

4. Galvatron was proposing an alliance against their "common foe"; an Autobot's involvement would have made that threat a lot more dangerous to Unicron.

 

5. Unicron doesn't play that.

Wasn't unicron the only bot that saw the blue light that came from the matrix when hotrod caught it? Then he screamed....

 

But I dunno, TFs aren't the brightest robots..

I think he screamed because he realised that Optimus Prime dying didn't destroy the Matrix. He was probably hoping that Prime would die before he could remember to pass it on, and the Autobots would have forgotten all about it like in the comics.

Yeah, he was just hollering because the Matrix was passed to Ultra Mangus and NOT destroyed, which he would have obviously preferred.

 

Of course the irony of all this is that, had he simply steered clear of Cybertron and it's moons, he probably could've consumed half the universe before the Matrix would have ever been an issue.
