it's more likely that the sleeper will become the legs and the front half of the truck will have a Laser Prime style transformation.

I don't think it will be a lazer optimus type. Shoulder would be a waste of volume and they want him the bigger possible.

But you gotta admit those big shoulders look really badass.

Wow, a NEW video. It's an interesting concept but doesn't quite strike me has what Bay has in mind.

I'm betting there will be more "morphing" in the Transformation and we'll see very little car/truck kibble in robot mode.

 

Kind of like how they did it in the G1 cartoon (where the alt mode pretty much looked like the toy's alt mode - but the robot mode was often quite different) - but more EXTREEME (i.e. less "man-in-a-suitish").

From what I've read, they will be trying to avoid the "morphing" aspects at all costs. The designers are doing a very organic and realistic take on the transformation process itself. That being said, from what I've seen of the animatics, I think you are absolutely correct in the sense that the bot modes will not resemble the vehicles they originally transformed from in any way, shape, or form.

Also, from what i gather, the transformation process will be much more kinetic and grounded in real world physics. No more leaping into the air, transforming, and then landing on their feet. The transformations seem to occur from the wheels having direct contact with the ground and then transforming into a bot from there.

By morphing I was thinking more of what happens in the SAAB SUV commercial, which is a bit more subtle than "it's made of likkwid metah."
