TF Movie Characters - Thoughts

Recommended Posts

Hunter Rose and I were having an on again, off again conversation about the Possible Movie Characters. We were thinking, it would make sense for them to combine various characters together to push the small TF Roster Lists.

Here are the Rumored Autobots:

Optimus Prime

Bumblebee

Jazz

Ironhide

Ratchet

Now looking at this list, we could take the characters and blend in traits of other characters into them to make more well-rounded team members for the small roster. Such as...

Jazz --

Combine Jazz, Prowl, Bluestreak and Mirage.

He would be cool, calm, and have a good sense of personal style, while being a strategic genius and Prime's right-hand man, who has a strong dislike of actual war and conflict, despite being good at it.

Ironhide --

Combine Ironhide, Kup, Huffer, Brawn, and Trailbreaker.

A cynical, grumpy old war vet who is tough and strong while being smart and reliable and can give guidance to Bumblebee and others through his experience and wisdom, if not be a bit belligerent.

Ratchet --

Combine Ratchet, First Aid, Red alert, and Inferno.

A good medical officer who is a bit paranoid, yet is friendly and well-liked overall for being a bit of a jokester at times. Has a dislike for guns, but is willing to do what it takes to end conflict situations.

Bumblebee --

Combine Bumblebee, Hot Shot, Hot Rod and maybe Cliffjumper.

Friendly, eager, but a bit too rash and headstrong for his own good, all while trying to prove his worth to the other Autobots around him.

These are just some ideas of how they could possibly combine characters to form the Movie Personalities of the TF's. These are really just a variety of thoughts, nothing solid. Also no true basis says this would be how'd they handle things, but it's a starter idea.

We can add to that the whole Soundwave confusion.

To me the most logical guestimate (and really this is all any of us have at this point) is that the Helicopter is Soundwave. He was called soundwave back when Speilberg showed that early early animatic and

He retains ALL of soundwave's well known traits and abilities-

Hacks computers.

Has a sonic attack.

Releases Minions.

I think the Scorponok thing makes sense if we look at it as if it were related to Cybertron SW and not G1.  The same people who are Starscreaming that there is a Beasty Tf that DOESNT TRANSFORM are likely the same ones who think LaserBeak is AWESOME!

Face it - LB turns into a box. Actually none of the Tapes had very interesting Altmodes. so i have no problem with scorpy in this role.

We then also have the "Kennywave" character which has also been roumord to be SW and is being used as a sort of Human sized Comic Releif Character - well that to me sounds like Rumble or Frenzy.

Something else i just thought of - if SW is an aircraft now - does that make him part of the seekers mythos? It is a moot point in Cybertron/GF cause he is all Px! But if he in fact is a Decepticon now - does this mean he takes Thundercracker's position?

Fun speculation is all.

i don't think that the movie bots will resemble their G1 counterparts very much. it's not like the movie autobots are going to be Alternators. i think that the design asthetics will be closer to that of the BM vehicons but with earthling vehicle modes. i actually hope i'm right because, let's face, tf's certainly could use a fresh look instead of just rehashing the G1 designs.

It certainly seems that way - but i think what DM and I were talking about in terms of similarities to G1 - was more along the lines of "charcter types" and less the physical nuts and bolts of how they are built.

well Bumblebee is still a black and yellow car FWIW.

I am not even sure how that relates to any aspect of this discussion....

:tfhuh

i guess the disagreement stems from the fact that i think that the movie tf's will have minimal character development so their similarities to their G1 counterparts will be purly physical.

Yeah...we were talking about how they would take certain aspects of character's traits from G1 as well as other places (hence Hot Shot) to make fully well-rounded TF's in personality as well as possible goals, ideals, and general dispositions.

So this goes back to the "objectively" hating the film and thinking anyone that has a vaguely positive outlook on it is a complete retard fanboy.

Fair enough - at least now we know where you are coming from.

for the last time, i am a realist. yes, i'd love for the tf's to get some character development but we're talking about 5-7 characters on each side and at least half the movie is going to be taken up with human-related sub-plots. that doesn't leave a lot of time.

again, i don't hate the movie, i'm just going in with low expectations. even if all my predictions come true, it could still be a good movie in its own right.
