BTW any of us pretending to know what a Masterpiece is supposed to be = retarded

we have one figure to base that opinion on

ONE

well that the repaint as opp pointed out and the interviews with the designers saying what thier goals were and stuff *cant be bothered to find it* but im sure thiers a translation if you look back

but yeah i agree we only have 1 toy to use as a bench mark so i guess we wont realy know what makes an MP an MP till MP5 given 4 is just prime... again

Here's the thing...

The only thing that makes a figure a "Masterpiece" or not is what it says on the box. Did any of us buy G1 Prime and then look at G1 Jetfire and say "oh that's not Transformers"? It's ridiculous. MP Screamer isn't the same as MP Convoy, but it's still a Masterpiece because that's what it is. If you don't agree, then you'll just have to change your definition a bit. All this retarded speculation about "oh a Masterpiece is supposed to be awesome in robot mode and okay in vehicle mode" is based on the peculiar characteristics of one mold.

Could it be that "Masterpiece" just means "a super awesomely updated version of a classic character"?

And again I must say that this much bitching over changes THIS SMALL THAT MOST PEOPLE WOULDN'T EVEN NOTICE UNLESS YOU POINTED IT OUT TO THEM

makes me hate the fandom

i don't know about you but the hip-mounted kibble is quite visible.

and like i said before, the redesign kind of changes the personality of the toy. it feels more like its based on the japanese version of G1 Screamer, who was more akin to BW Dinobot than the traiterous lieutent that we all know and love.

*fires hulk missle*

please note that i'm not saying that the MP isn't an excellent toy in its own right, it just fails to capture the proper personality of G1 Screamer. i'm sure that most people can overlook that, maybe even myself.

Well if the hip kibble is really a make-or-break thing for you guys, then so be it.

It was just as visible on his legs IMO...

those new leg kibble peices make me thing of live convoy

It was just as visible on his legs IMO...

yes but leg mounted kibble is more of an american design asthetic. american robots tend to have large pelvises that are one piece while japanese robots tend to have small pelvises that are covered by metal skirts. mounting MP Screamer's jet kibble on his hips is more akin to the later design asthetic that the former. that tends to affect the personality of the toy and make it look more like it's based on the japanese version of G1 Screamer who had a completely different personality from his american counterpart.

Well if the hip kibble is really a make-or-break thing for you guys, then so be it.

again, it is NOT JUST THE HIP KIBBLE. it's how the kibble affects the overall personality of the toy. don't be so dense.

And again, I must point out that the changes are not that small.

Some peopel haven't noticed, other have.

And most of the time, whether a person notices or not, and how they react seems to depened on the type of robots they like.

It was just as visible on his legs IMO...

Yep, just like Prime's wheels.

And just like Prime's wheels, it was visible on robot mode in toy as well as comic at times.

Waist kibble was not.

we have one figure to base that opinion on

ONE

We have more than one.

We have the first Optimus, we have the Ultra magnus reclour and we have the first Starscream mold.

We have seen the design for that and that the later additions were not there originally, they are afterthoughts.

Theoriginal empahsis seemed to be on G1 bot mode accuracy, with passable vehicle mode.

On top of that we have the other Masterpiece line; the Brave Masterpiece line, also by Takara, and if I recall correctly, originally supposed to be a part of the (at the time) non show specific Masterpiece line.

I don't know much about these, but to the best of my knowledge the empahsis is the same as that on MP Prime in terms of fiction accuracy.

Not enough for conclusive proof, but more than just wild stabs in the dark or baseless opinion, even without the Brave stuff.
