:tflaugh alternators just rock the casba!

:pfx What she said

Alternators is my number one choice. Realistic alt-modes, goodlooking robots with more than enough homage to G-1, and interesting transformations. I don't overly care for the G-1 reissues, since I already own most of those and they are bricks, plain and simple. I would much rather see the original molds reinvented with modern technology and articulation., while staying true to the original..and guess what, it's called Alternators.

Beastwars, especially the Transmetal line, is a close second. I can't judge Energon, since I don't have any yet, but I'll admit, several of those look good. Not as good as Alternators, but good for toys.

RiD...well, they had several great figures (like Prime, the A-brothers, Scourge) but also a few misses.

No, Alternators rule!!!! :clap

Beast wars. Hands down, they started the whole push for articulation with balljoints. They paved the road for the rest of the lines to utilize this super articulation.

Here's how I break it down:

1. Energon- As far as an ongoing TF line with many different characters, this is the best since G1. It seems to take many different ideas and designs (usually the best ideas) from all of the previous TF lines (G1, BW, RID, and Armada in particular). Even the Energon repaints of Armada Cyclonus & Demolishor are cool. As are Ultra Magnus (Armada Overload repaint) and Tidal Wave.

2. Alternators & Masterpiece- I love this line. The ONLY reasons it gets second place is because it has no story aside from the short bio and it takes too long for Hasbro to produce more figures (Takara has 4 figures out now, and we still only have 2). However, the designs will never get better than these. If they put out five figures at a time, they would easily trounce Energon for #1.

3. RID- This was a line that I had mixed feelings about. The Prime from this line was a great figure, but it still bothers me that he's a fire truck, and that Megatron was a Dragon or...errr... something (but I do like the figure. I just keep him in bot mode though.) The Train Brothers were cool. Scourge was an awesome figure, but he was a repaint from G2, and Ultra Magnus only looks good as a car carrier and as parts for Omega Prime. Then there was Ruination- Cool, but he was just a repaint of G1 Bruticus. The show was horrible, and most of the other figures didn't really appeal to me (Prowl, Sideburn, X-Brawn and all of the 'cons, save for Megs, Scourge and Ruination). The spychangers were cool too, but once again, save for O.P. and U.M., these guys were repaints from G2.

4. Armada- Supercon Prime was cool, Wheeljack was nice, Blurr was very sleek looking, Tidal Wave was cool (but better in the original japanese colors) and this line gave us Unicron, but.....Everything else was POOP ON A STICK. The show, like RID, was horrible (But not AS horrible. If it had only been 18-20 episodes long and minus the kids it would have rocked. But not with 52 eps.). All of the other figures in the line either looked OK at best or looked like absolute crap - Examples: the Hot Shot figure should have been in the Playskool Gobots line, or better yet, never made at all! Armada Starscream was on the right path until half of his jet mode hung off his back! It really could have been folded down. G1 'Screamer and E. 'Screamer send this guy to go hide under a rock and never come out again as punishment for his bad design. :tflaugh1

However, it did bring TF's back into the spotlight.

5. Beast Wars/Transmetals/Beast Machines: As a story and TV series, Beast Wars was AWESOME. As toys however, I can't say I was that impressed. There were only a handful of figures I liked. Most were gaudy as hell. Some made me want to puke. :tfpuke And others just made me want to cry.

6. G2/Machine Wars-Good concept, bad paintjobs.

7. Universe- Mostly bad paintjobs, but I do like Blackarachnia. The rest can go away. Robotmasters can stay, too. :tflaugh1
