It's already started.

First was CR/RiD and the G1 reissues - here were all these so-called "Transfans" who had never touched Transformers for 15 years suddenly getting back into it.

Then came Armada, Energon and Cybertron - 2004 marked the 20th anniversary of the Transformers franchise. Folks like you and I celebrated 20 years of continued fandom... and suddenly all these noobs popped up who'd never touched Transformers in 20 years.

Dont forget Alts/BT. I've heard several, "Alts got me collecting again" stories.

The Neo-Classic and movie lines will simply be the 3rd TF noob-explosion. If the movie does well, it may be a very large explosion... but yeah... I've already been noticing the increase of noob fan-boys for the last 6 years.

We've already seen a few of these noobs come along and flaunt these massive collections of TF figures which they've acquired over a very short span of time (typically 2 years or less). While I can appreciate the enthusiasm of trying to catch up for over two decades of non-collecting, this is far less impressive to me than looking at another fan's collection which they have been building continuously over the last 22 years - such collectors will often have a more in-depth knowledge of Transformers lore as well.

Building a massive collection in a short span of time requires a lot of money and enthusiasm.

Building a massive collection and equally massive knowledge of Transformers in general over a span of 22 years requires solid dedication.

There's only one rational approach to resolve this.

Kill the n00bs.

maybe a bit rash but who am i to say. lol :tflaugh

I dont remember what got me back into the hobby (Having been out since season 2 Beast wars, holy hell I missed some cool stuff!)

It was before Armada...

I dont remember to be honest, most of my knowledge of G1 is clouded by my cynicism so I dont have the usual "G1 PWN'D!!11!" Mentality (I love it, but booy does it suck)

Which is odd, because I was born in 87, so pretty much every G1 toy I ever owned was second hand, with a couple exceptions. (Reissues I assume, but it has been bugging me where my parents got that G1 Prime, as he wasnt reissued until a while after my Birthday)

Heh, silly noobs.  I'm gonna be eatin' my wheaties to buff up to push anyone outta my way for the classics figs.  I don't mess around when it comes to my g1.  I will say I haven't been seriously collecting for more than four years, but I also haven't had a job to do so until I moved out.

Probably be bandwagoned by Hot Wheels and Star Wars collectors.  By that I mean the fanboys that choose either as their priority.

as weird as it may seem it was armada that got me hooked on the  toys again

Not looking forward to missing out on the new figures because of noobs, or the prices of figures I need going up even more than they have been.

i as well. what got me back into collecting was bw. but i dont really think it got me "back" into collecting rather than started me collecting. besides, at the time i thought tfs were dead, what with the time gap between g2 and bw. once i knew bw was a part of the tf lore, i was into it hard.
