20Th Prime re-release: More details.

Recommended Posts

I don't know why you say MP is of better quality that 20th because it's the exact same toy, with taller stacks but less paint.

No battle damage and taller stacks. But I SAID 20th is the better deal so STFU kthx.

Wow, someone forgot to take their Midol this morning.

I have been wanting to buy a 20th since it came out, because I am scared as hell of my Masterpiece falling off the shelf.  I have only taken him out of his cardboard prison a handful of times anyway.  Now I can get one to display with my ALT's, and kick ass all over ALT Prime!  And just for the record...Takara can go Powerglide themselves with their $189 MP Prime w/ trailer reissue.

Actually 20th Prime is surprisingly durable. I've had him out of the box since day 1 and that was in Summer 2004. I usually have him in one pose or other with the rest of the alts high on a shelf. I wouldn't be too worried about breaking him accidentally. Mine has hit the floor twice now after being knocked over. No scratches/dents/breaks or anything. Probabaly is the same for both but I find he's built like a brick.

Thank goodness for smaller stacks though. Those would've been the first to go. :tftongue

You could also have the base say:

"ROOOOOOOOLLAAAAAAAAAAAARRR!!!!" from MTMTE

and that Boobies line

or just him saying "Boobies"

and if they are taking the piss, that Tiny Tim song used on Prime's wonderful time ytmnd.com.

Thanks to  tapestry100 of TfW2005.com for this info

. The recent previews magazine that just came out has a listing for the Transformers 20th Anniversary Optimus Prime Updated Action Figure - it pretty much describes the figure as it was originally released, but this time it includes a "brand-new collector's base that says 7 phrases from the original movie!" and is scheduled to ship in Sept 2006

Unfortunately for us Americans, those phrases will be in Japanese :redface

They would have to be in english.  I believe the movie...when it FINALY got released in japan was released in english with japanese subtitles as opposed to being dubbed over (i may be wrong, duh)...so...they would be the original ones...hopefully form the recording studio...not from some other voice actor in a new studio...in any case...may finally be worth getting this guy.

and 20th has battle damage.

and MP has diecast

and MP came with a paper trailer.

It's not really a debate that it's better quality.  It's a debate of weather or not the superior quality is worth the extra money.

20th Prime is die-cast too, nimrod

if a paper trailer and long stacks are worth $100 to you, then go for it. Oh and don't forget your gray gun. That's a freebie.

Only partially. much of the figure isn't metal.

also, the figure is surprisingly easy to Powerglide up. Mine has a whole bunch of paint scratches, and it's right knee is split down the back of it. trust me, I wasn't roughhousing with the figure(Well, I did once... but that was like before the knee incident happened...), and this stuff still happened.

when My 20th Prime fell to the floor a couple times, I didn't realize it but it got an unrepairablecrack behind his knee. Luckily some one gave me a new one.

Uh... could you be so kind as to point out what parts are and aren't diecast on the MP Convoy and 20th Prime?  Because I could have sworn that there were several comparisons between both figures when they first came out and everyone came to the conclusion that they were identical save for the longer stacks and battle damage paint.

It'll be easier if i just point out what is diecast on 20th. basically, just the top half of his torso in robot mode, and the part of his legs that slides down to become the shins in robot mode. as far as I know, all or almost all of MP Convoy is diecast.

The lack of battle damage and the smokestacks are worth the extra cash.

And as far as guns go, both MP Prime's grey and anniversary Prime's "mostly" black gun are equally crappy.

MP Magnus' ALL black gun is the definitive MP Prime gun.

Nope, same amount.
