Nemesis Breaker & Metroplex

Recommended Posts

I feel so torn.

Those who know me know that my primary collecting tendancies have 1 rule: If it was in the show, it goes in my collection. There are very few pieces that I own that don't fall under that distinction (outside of friggan cool molds).

Well, today I did a double-check of my Wal-mart (after a late night run last night), to see if they stocked anything last night. They had. A Nemesis Breaker was sitting there, in all its black, grey, and teal beauty.

I bought it, of course, as I know how rare figs can get around here. Indeed, I haven't seen a Scrapmetal since the one I bought! But that leaves me with a conundrum.

See, I was out looking for other figs: Namely Alt. Mirage and Metroplex. And if I see them, I'm going to by them.

Right now, Nemesis Breaker is sitting somewhere safe, still in the bag I bought it in, still with the reciept next to it.

I guess the question is: Do I keep looking for Alt. Mirage and Metroplex, or should I be happy with Nemesis Breaker? Admittedly, I don't own a Galvatron yet (I want one. Real. BAD. But $40-50 transformer purchases are hard to justify in my mind, especially for a repaint)... And, of course, July is coming up fast with its Primus goodness (which I will own a first-run of)...

I just don't know what to do.

Keep him.

Nemesis Breaker is awesome.... if he is half as good as (GF) Dark Liger Jack. I haven't seen NB yet myself, but is Alt. Mirage even out yet?

Given the decision between Metroplex and NB, choose the latter IMO.

Nice find, by the way.  :thumb

Well, this makes things more interesting...

I have 3 wal-marts in the area. 2 of the 3 are known for getting things quickly. In fact, they are where I've picked up my Soundwave, Scrapmetal, and Wing Saber.

I went to the further out one today (which also let me swing by TRU just in case, they are good for early Sigma 6 releases), on a hunch. See, last night.. they were COMPLETELY out of $40 price point TF's. Which was weird.

Today rewarded. I stopped by, and they had both Metroplexes there! (God, they are packaged weirdly). Now, I do have the money to throw around to buy it, so I did... But $100 in luxury purchases on a single paycheck (New Super Mario Bros, Nem. Breaker, Metroplex) is a tough bite for me. Even though I got paid $200 more than a usual paycheck.

It also kinda stings knowing that Metroplex is gonna be packed 2 to a case. That means he's not gonna be in short supply (unlike Nem. Breaker... it also means that if I don't get a Galvatron soon, I might not get one at all!)...

So yeah. Metroplex is being opened.. I've wanted this fig for as long as I can remember, and screw all you purists who think TF's from alien planets still need to look 100% realistic. =) The decision's still up on Nem. Breaker, though.

Edit:

:eek  :eek  :eek  :eek

Holy. Powerglideing. Hell.

His weapon ALONE is worth getting this fig for. Giant, heavy, articulated, actually rotates (and it has a mechanism to keep it still funcitoning right!),... This thing's bigger than a Deluxe, both in terms of sheer size and plastic used!

Okay. I'm in love.

I just wish Starscream would've turned out better, and that Photobucket wouldn't have scaled it down.

Edit: You'll notice that none of them are standing straight. =)

Edit 2: Damnit! I had Metroplex mistransformed at that. =/ Well, his hips at least.

Holy crap!!!  :eek  :eek  :eek

Both Optimus and Megatron are freaking tiny next to Metroplex. He really is that huge. :clap

Personally I really like Metroplex. Don't have him as of yet but definitely plan to eventially. I honestly don't get all the Starscreaming about his alt mode. It's not like the original Metroplex looked anything like a city with his legs and chest completely exposed in which ever mold he's in. Question. How's Metroplex qualitywise, strength, and durability. If it's anywhere near as impressive as the rest of the line I'm sure he's pretty solid. :thumb

Construction wise..

Well... he has MASSIVE Ratchet joints. And very secure at that. His feet also won't slide forward, because it's square on one side. The only joint that is a little weak is the up/down on his shoulders, and even that's pretty secure.

He's light. I mean, he is a $40, after all.. his sceptre heavy though. He has as much articulation as a Sigma 6, including waist.

I'll talk more about his solidity later. Playing WSG in World of Warcraft.

Wait, Metroplexs weapon can rotate?!?!?!  I thought the big wheel of doom at the end of rendered useless because of the awesome mega super pea shooter that his cyber key exposed.  If the wheel rotates, I am getting this guy as soon as I see him rather than wait for cheap/used.

Actually I think it's been already said that Metroplex's saw doesn't shoot anything. Aside from rotating it basically opens up and the rounded tip lights up.

I could be wrong, but I'm sure Athenor would know for sure.

Also thanks for the top notch discription. Strength and durability constructionwise is one thing I really look for when buying TFs. I personally hate flimsy non sturdy TFs. Rid is a great example of what I mean.

yea his key function only makes the axe more powerful.

I don't know about you, but around here, there are a bunch of Galvys warming the shelves. Ever since I saw the first one (and loved the color scheme, damn Hasbro for releasing "Megatron" first), I decided that I would wait until he goes on clearance and scoop him up then. I also don't want to pay $40 for a repaint, even if it is 10x better than the original. Just be patient, I bet you can find one for $20 w/in a couple of months at the most.

Great find. I was undecided about Metroplex, but I think I might go ahead and get him for the planet key and b/c he does look pretty cool overall. Really, the blade spins huh?? That really improves the playability of the toy then. I am impressed.
