What is it with people saying this guy won't be released in Japan?

 

This isn't like Alt. Prime.. This is a figure that was in the TV series, and predominantly at that. After all, there were only 3.. count 'em, THREE Giant planet TF's... they are going to release them all over there.

It was already said that Megalo was the last toy of the GF line... this guy is a Hasbro exclusive, just like Hard Top or Armorhide. He just made an appearence in the show, that's all.

It would be stupid to release a toy when the popularity of the show it came from is way passed its prime. Notice that the only GFs that arrived recently was exclusives, and they kind of considered the GF Primus as G1 with the packaging. Also, there was no news ever of them releasing these as toys. Everyone just assumed it was since they were on the show. Then again, so was Energon Sixshot, and that guy never had a toy in SL.

Like said before (Artimus?), it's a very good hommage to his G1 namesake...and that's about all the positive I can say. (A G1 toy I, btw, didn't buy cos I didn't like 'm.)

 

I'm not too fond of these colors (and usually don't buy TF's with orange in them so dominantly), but even the inevitable repaint won't be bought. I don't like the design. From the looks of him, he suffers from Shockblast syndrom, c.q. his cannon arm being so huge that it will hinder posability and stability. Other than that, the rest of him (both robot and alt) simply doesn't appeal to me. No redeeming qualities IMO.

 

Big pass for me. So far all the Giant planet figures are no-buys for me. (Metroplex I might get if I can think of a good kitbash idea.)

Wow.. didn't realize they didn't get Sixshot. =/

 

I wonder what happened with the Blender mold that caused Takara to pass on it. I mean, we've had official artwork and the like for him since well back into last year...

I actually really like him.  I hadn't planned on buying him when I saw that red proto at Toy Fair, but now I really like how it turned out.  My biggest regret with it, though, is that his left arm (the normal arm) is molded such that if you bend his arm the back of his fist will be facing down, or in other words, you can't bend his arm and have him hold a gun of some kind.  As for the orange, I've always had an affinity for orange TF's...*cough*HOT ROD*cough* and (points to avatar)... so yeah...
