3 Possible Decepticons Appearing In Movie?

Recommended Posts

Even if these details seem minor to some of us, too much change really can destroy even the "feel" of what we know in a world so established.

If they seem minor to us, I'm pretty sure that the rest of the world won't care.

What the hell does Mel Gibson have to do with this?

On topic. I guess I'm going to simply have to go with the flow on this one. It's been long debated that this isn't a G1 movie but a movie about Transformers in an entirely different continuity from what's been presented in the past. The most logical way to look at this would be to say this is now what happens after GF/Cybertron. Not that it's a continuation or has any relation whatsoever to the last installment in the Armadaverse but it's the next thing to happen as far as the known mythos go. (excluding of course IDWs take) Not that I'm the type of fan to roll over and say let Murphy/Bay do whatever the hell they want it's there movie it's just tht despite the recent hang ups I see a lot of things going right this movie.

1.)The transformers are from Cybertron and yes as stated in the interview we get to see Cybertron.

2.)Optimus Prime will be featured as a Mack Truck. With faceplate or not, makes really no difference to me.

3.)Megatron is apparently featured as a tank and bu doing so will kick more ass thn a mass size shifting handgun ever will do on or off the screen.

4.)Starscream is involved as was to be expected

5.)Full military support has been confirmed reguarding the war against the Transformers.

6.)Bay and company have gone to extreme lengths to present the Transformers as actual characters with emotion in face/eyes opposed to just special effects and plot divices.

7.)Bay is at least willing to give Cullen and Welker a shot though it's a good chance they won't get it because of some bigwig corporate from either Paramount or Dreamworks insisting on actual actors opposed to the much underated voice actors.

8.)A Pg-13 rating gives Bay more room to blow up stuff and cater to an older audience while not neglecting the younger fans.

9.)The animatics as described sound absolutely kickass and state of the art. Hopefully ILM can put it off flawlessly.

10.)Scorponok's in the movie and apparently kills people for a change. A big WTF for some was one of the first things to really excite me about this film.

A couple of rumours though have me a bit confused. On DM's board I keep reading about this Kennywave character. What the hell is that about? Also when was Vortex (Bruticus component) confirmed for the script? :tfhuh

Soundwave was written as a helicopter, but due to fans Starscreaming was dropped and replaced by Vortex.

Soundwave was then made a small music device.

But as they're not going to put mass shifting in, he will be made out of many paper thin sheets of metal and transform into a 6 ft robot that is so thin he gets his head knocked off by Sam's g/f, apparently on more than one occassion, hence the Kennywave name.

As far as offcial comments on this go, Don was apprently asked about it at transformerscon yesterday and it went like this:

Q: What's happening with Soundwave in the movie?

A: Soundwave is still in the script but he might be put off until the next movie since currently having him as a CD and not mass-shifting could make it seem really strange for a lot of people.

So, as of yesterday the whole Kennywave thing still seems to be true and included.

^

Thanks for the clarification. :thumb

Vortex I can deal with but what's being done to Soundwave is absolute murder. The whole concept of Kennywave sounds effing retarded. Funny who we have the diehard fanboys to thank for that. :roll I can't see how having Soundwave being a helicopter could've been so hard to get over. I liked the idea and a mass size shifting tape cassette/cd player works for the G1 cartoon erra but not for a semirealistic live action film.  The fans who bitched are probably in the same camp as the ones who insist a handgun is an idealy suited alt mode for Megatron. Seriously though how can one possibly screw up something as simple and basic as Soundwave. The people in Bay's/Murphy's camp would've done well to look at his incarnation in GF/C. :thumb

If that's true, then.....

I hate the fandom.

If this movie does turn out to be really stupid, I'm not going to see it.  At this point, I'm not too concerned with what they do as far as characters and alt-modes go.  They changed some stuff for the X-Men and Spider-Man movies, and those turned out fine.  What I really fear is this becoming a movie that is mediocre and draws low ratings from movie critics.

Hmm, I should have added apparently to the start of that.

Anyway, yeah, IF true, I don't blame the fandom and at the same time do.

I don't blame the fandom because they have bitched about everything that isn't G1, yet not everything is being changed to keep them happy, so the blame lies with whoever made teh decision to listen to them or not on each thing.

I do blame the fandom because those on all sides who speak at Don Murphy's or the official site are not the fandom, just a small percentage

Those that sit by silently and let those few speak for the entire fandom are as much to blame for the powers that being lead to think that opinion on something is so strongly one way, as the vocal minority who say as much.

Even without being overly vocal, a vote in a poll can say all it needs to.

Yeah, I guess my disappointment (again, if that's true) is with the movie people who thought that something like that mattered at all. I could see them saying "you know, Soundwave's really not working in the script" or "I think he's redundant" or something substantial like that, which could be debated but at least would have some validity.

Haha... if you could only see some production meetings!

Consider how Powerglideing retarded all the people you work with are.

Now imagine you all have to get together, every department with a department supervisor who got there by saving money, and promoting effeiciency.

Imagine they all have to work on one project.

Now imagine that project is a movie...

...exactly.

Christ pdemaio!! read something other than the TV-Guide for a change!!

[/end rant]

Can you and madhammer explain exactly what was going on with LotR before the movies came out and who was supposedly so interested in it?  It's great liturature, but nothing was happening with in general culture.

Don't ge me wrong I enjoyed the books (which is more than I would say for something like War and Peace), but LotR was hardly at the front of many peoples minds not in some form of academia since the lame TV special in the 80's.
