Cyb/GF Wing Saber/Sonic Bomber

Recommended Posts

Okay.  I was watching the episode on hasbro where Prime and Wing Saber combine for the first time.  I saw that Wing Saber could fold his wings up so that his missiles were aimed right at Starscream.

I thought that it'd be a cool trick and pretty simple too.  Just take an x-acto knife, and cut through the wing where it meets the body, and then rig it so that it can fold up and down and not be loose.

It's the second part I need help with figuring out.  That's the problem.  I want to get everything right before I start cutting into my Sonic Bomber (Wing Saber) figure.  And I'm thinking of possibly just getting a spare Wing Saber figure and doing this custom and then using Sonic Bomber to combine with Prime.

Help...*looks for drowning smily* :tflaugh

Simple....After examining my Wing Sabers---

It'd be better if you had a dremel (but a drill will suffice).

1.Cut off the wings.

2. drill the holes in the sides of the body.

3. Open the body, via unscrew.

Best joints would probably be bionicle ball joints.

4.Epoxy or tamiya putty the ball/post part of the joint into the body in the proper positions.

5. Cut grooves and epoxy glue/putty (whichever your preference) the socket portion onto the wings....

And voila 360 degree rotation, and they can also be angled roughly 30 degress in any given angle.  I wish I could post pics of my idea to show you what I mean.

6.  detail with a styrene scratcher, paint  and there you go...

Well, those ideas are helpful.  Now, where to get a dremel and how do you use one?

Also, the hings is all set.  I want to use the hinge that holds his arm in place to move the wing...uless it doesn't go all the way into the body which it probably doesn't.  Hmmm...may have to do some explorative surgury on this guy.

that's a pretty good idea.

i did a similer modification to bw tm2/fusor tigerhawk when it comes to modifying the inner wings  so that the half of each inner wing which attaches to the outer wings would rotate on the steel pin assembly which secured the missile launchers into the shell housing.

it came out pretty good on the first try especially since i was taking it on the fly and improvising along the way.

Well, I did the explorative surgury, and there might be a problem.  The screws that hold the wings on are the problem.  There's two that attach from the inside of the body and cutting through them could be a problem considering their length.

Now how do I work around that... :schin

First as a kitbasher...There is always a way to undo a screw.  If by some magical reason there isn't, like a RIVET, a drill bit at the home depot especially for metal casts $2 USD.  And that maybe what you need.  But if you buy a dremel it will come with everything you need.

A dremel is the universal tool for kitbashing IMO.  The PERFECT tool, like the fifth element.

i love my dremel....i just got a cordless one for christmas...its great, but if you go cordless make sure to get a spare battery..............they sell the kits at wally-world.....and most hardwear stores carry them....great investment....and man do they have plenty of attachments
