When it stops feeling new...

Recommended Posts

Makes me want to dig out AAOP from my cabinet to play w/ the wonderfulness that is Primal.

He really is one of the best figures ever.

Nice, clean munky and robot modes that (more or less) resemble his show appearance and equipped with most of the same gimmicks he displayed in BM (jet pack, disc weapon that shoots from his belly), plus he has a voice chip with the show's actor.

I agree 100% I mean he has all the features that you mentioned and the kickass changing flight sound effects we mentioned. That took some real effort and attn to detail to make AAOP that good. I was and still am highly impressed w/ Hasbro for that bad boy.

I personally don't do much more then pose em on a shelf but right now that's enough to hold my interest for the time being.

I absolutely love organizing and displaying my collection. It is one of my favorite things to do to relax.

I want the display to be balanced visually and aesthetically look just right. I am very pleased w/ how my display has turned out so far and I can hardly wait to get a new figure to try and fit into the balance (MP SS is going to be tough, that is probably going to be one big MoFo).

FWIW I don't mind taking them off the shelves and playing with them it's just that after I do that I got transformers all over the floor and that entirely defeats having them on the shelf in the first place.

Having a 5-yr-old nephew that absolutely loves my TF collection (and his 4-yr-old sister that likes to do whatever he is doing) makes for what we shall call a "reorganization" after they leave. I pretty much let them play w/ almost any figure, and usually more like 20 of them at once. I let them pull them out and play w/ them, and then once they are gone I get to put them all away again.

For some reason I usually end up w/ a better looking display once I am done putting them back in the case, so I don't mind too much. Plus that is what the toys are for, kids to play with.

Generally, they stop being 'new' after they lose that new toy smell, and/or collect that fine layer of dust.

But just getting simple accessories to recomplete a toy can make it feel renewed as well.  Plus any old toy I get that I didn't have before is new to me, even if it's missing some accessories or whatnot :thumb

I might not be getting any tfs for a while (noooooo!) due to saving up for Auto Assembly....

It is during these no Tf times that I start to slightly lose interest....But then getting a new one makes it so much better! :)

Well I was over my parents house last night and as my gf was doing my mom's hair I decided to go and grad the storage box of TFs I havent bothered to move over to my place yet.  In it, I found Mr. Bendy Prime.  I can't put him down now...so he definately feels new again as I didn't appreciate him at the time I got him(almost a year ago to the day at last year's Transformerscon).

He's freakin awesome

I agree with that. Believe me if I was married and had a kid old enough to play with them I'd have to problem with them being played with and scattered around the house. :thumb That's actually a portion of the reason why I haven't gotten rid of either them or my extensive hotwheels collection.

My only fear is that I'll marry someone who won't want me to keep any of it. :redface  My friend's wife almost made him get rid of all his classic lego. OH NOES NOT TEH LEGO!!!! :eek  :eek  :eek

The "new" feeling, for me, wears off after I pick up my next TF. Of course. being the starving student that I am, new TFs are often months apart, so the "new" feeling stays around for a long time. (The Brushguard I got two months ago still feels "new" to me O.o)

i agree my THS-02 still smells of the silver paint of the trailer but as it fads it seems less new to me

one of the toy sets i got that was put pritty much on the shef as soon as i got them was the BWR set their cool looking but after i transformed them and used each gimmik they lost thier magic. but the ones that do stick around are often basics or daluxes with easy but complex transfromations (like GF fangwolf)
