The resculpted head gives him a really good G1 Hotrod head. He`s really looking good DD. I can`t wait to see how you do the flames. Will you paint or use a decal?

Thanks RodimusVTS... Im thinking of using sticker decal the flame will be neat... but I dont wanna use the G1 sticker, and then I cant find suitable ones too... so... most probably I will be handpainting the flame...

Ok here`s what I did for the flame on my Rodimus Prime. First take some really good measurments of the chest. Then draw it out in perfect scale to the real chest. After wards fold it in half and draw the flame emblem on it and cut it out. Next lay the cut out onto a flat surface like the back of a sketch pad or notebook of some sort and place some painter tape or masking tape over it and trace the flamesand cut out with an exacto knife. Then once again place masking tape over it and trace the masking tape flames since the first one will have stuck to the paper one. Alright now you`ve got a decal for the chest. Next step remove the chest and paint it the color you want the flames to be and allow to dry. Once dry place the masking tape flames onto the chest and paint the color you want for the chest. Remove the masking tape and you`re done. It`s long and some of the steps are repetative but believe me I tryed it every other way and this was the only one that worked. You may want to get a super fine paint brush from testors (I use a 0/3) to touch up the flame color. DO NOT UNDER ANY SURCOMSTANCES TRY TO FREE HAND PAINT FLAMES LIKE THE ONES ON HOTROD OR RODIMUS!!!!! I tryed and the looked horrible. I hope my tips have helped you DD.

Yes they are, but if you paint all of his chest red and smooth it out, then add the sticker it'll look great. :thumb Maybe.... :redface

its not going to be red... its going to be orange like shown in toon...

the kind of flame used for the g1 wont match this mold... Im still thinking on how to improve/change the look of the flame... breaking free from the tradition, yet the homage is still there... isnt that whats "upgrading" is all about... pardon me but I prefer to use the term "upgrades" for the recent molds...  :tfgrin

Hey DD I`m kind of wondering are you planning on repainting the alt mode to look more G1? For instance removing the flames from the frontend and painting the hood orange then giving the hood flames like you`re giving the bot mode chest.

i like the new head. i would have left the chest as it was though and painted it orange (except for the bits besides the orange and gold that look a bit like headlights)
