all subsequent versions are just variations on the theme

 

 

and if (say) Starscream had been originally voiced by Don Messick instead, and had delivered his lines with more of a Thundercracker-ish quality, then we would have a very different understanding today of who Starscream "is".

not completely. Starscream was already whiny. he just would have been a deeper voiced whiny bastard without any screeching. :tflaugh

It's all in how you approach the character. A different voice actor (or Latta himself, had he not used his screechy voice) could have made the same lines come across quite differently.

now in Cybertron, where's he;s not a whiny bastard that alternates between sucking up and Powerglideign up back stabbing, he should have a new voice. the japanese voice suited him pretty well, actually.

I meant the general nature of what was being said. even if you just read it, it's whining. That's how i';ve always looekd at it. Starscream was just a whiner, and would have been no matter who voiced him. They just happened ot pick the guy who did theb est whiny voice for the job, and who also happened to screech.

I'm still going to have to disagree with you. He was definitely a usurping, opportunistic bastard, but there are lots of different ways you could play that. They chose screechy/whiny... he could just easily have been a "tough guy" or something else.

Screamer's voice was always  like that in Japan, in every series, so that's Japan's thing.

The one thing I like aobut the starscream voice they use now is it's not whiny, jsut slightly screechy.

Yeah i heard his jap voice fo GF, i almost died of hearing how Manly! he sounded, it was quite sexy! Hahaha, though Flame Convoys voice was funny when he was telling Lori how hard it can be a man and all, then Chormia yelled at him for being a weakling and called Lori a runt girl. That got me laughing hard. Poor Poor Sonic Bomber, *Sweatdrop*

Galvation voice though was quite cool, but it was funny when he and Starscream were fighting.

 

Nani?! BANG! Starscream fist grow huge and smack him into the wall!

 

Thundercracker's voice was alot better then what he gots now, his eng voice makes him sound weak and a little cowboyish, his jap made him sound like a man and not afraid to give what he got. Though i felt sad when he got cemented after him and Dreadlock got done fighting. Poor guy :tdown

 

When Chormia and Sonic Bomber were fighting i laughed and turned the speakers up loud when she got stuck by Lori.

 

"Old Lady!" Sonic Bomber

 

"For real?!" Chormia

 

"AGHHHH! I'm not a old lady my names Chormia-Chan!"

 

The best part of epi 46 for me was when the two gigalona tf were fighting, the leader and the one who looks like a giant drill. I felt like crying when they made up and became friends again. Their mini-cons are so cute!

 

Flame Convoy-I can cheat? hahahaha

 

Bud teaching FC how to be a leader, ya you can cheat! Haha. That was sad though when he finally found someone to match him.

 

Near the end theres Galvation dragging Mole Drive(Found his name finally) after he was beaten by the Vangruad Team.
