No matter what you think about that movie, the CG for that character was very impressive.

not to me. Jar Jar was more believable. (seriously)

you eat Panthro wang.

and this movie will most likely suck. i hate Bay.

I'm dead serious, I thought Jar Jar was a great bit of CGI work. Of course the character itself was horse balls, but the CG & compositing in particular were great. I never believed that the Hulk was really in the scene. ILM fell prey to their tendency to give everything too much of a matte finish. Human skin is kinda shiny, the Hulk looked like he'd been painted flat green.

And they do the same thing with vehicles and what not.... I just want to see some shininess.

Yeah, but was Jar Jar human?

CGI isn't where it can be completely realistic yet.  But, ILM, I believe, is definately one of the best visual effects studios out there.

Was the Hulk? (no fanboy responses please, you know what I mean)

I just think ILM has a tendency to overcompensate for the inherent or easy "shininess" of CG-created characters, vehicles, sets, etc. They mute it so much that it ends up looking like a flat, two-dimensional background (viz. most of Attack of the Clones).

IMO the best CG work I've ever seen, bar none, is Buckbeak the hippogriff in Harry Potter and the Prisoner of Azkaban. I don't recall the name of the animation house that did it, but they were only hired for that effect.

watch Finding Nemo on a tv with an S-Video connection or greater. the water will change your mind about that.

sorry, I meant "CG effect composited into a live-action movie"
