Ahh, yes I ran into that same problem, well kind of. At Cartoon Network each Episode is cut into 2 halfs. I could get screen caps of the first half. Then when it would reload and play the 2nd half it would give me that black screen that you are getting. So I messed with my Options for that player and some how got it to work.

 

So, try messing with Options, you can adjust better detail and Full Screen Option. I think that might be the key, switching Full Screen on. But don't use it, just have it there as an option, then just do a Print Screen to see if it'll work on a regular size video.
