What exactly is Masterforce and what's it about?  Is it worth my looking out for later once it's released?

Paid 40 Euro for Headmasters.

It was a decent price even though the show was mediocre. And to be honest, I am expecting even less of Masterforce. I will get it simply because it has Transformers on the box.  :tftongue

And it is technically a Transformers show even though Headmaster seemed less like a Transformers show and more like any other anime.

(Edit) Just looked up the listing on play.com. It is going to be a 5 disc set and cost 45 Euro. That is not too bad.

However, I got a feeling I will dislike the show. Transformers posing as humans  :tfpuke  Humans controlling Transformers  :tfpuke  Nightbeat changed into a girl  :tfpuke  Powermaster Optimus Prime not being Prime but another human controlled Transformer  :tfpuke

The Pretenders were not the most brilliant toys and this show is probably not going to change my mind. I know there are people who love this show but it is just too different from the classic G1 episodes I love.

Not even sure if I will get it now. I mean I could also get a Simpsons DVD box for it. Yes, I love Transformers to death but sadly the Japanese episodes are not my taste.

Masterforce is basically Power Rangers. The main Transformers arent sentient but are controlled by these teenagers with magic bracelets

Could not have said it better myself.

And Power Rangers has one major advantage: some of the female Rangers are actually pretty cute.  :tftongue

The humans controlling Transformers bit is the thing that most upset me as it changed Transformers in just any other manga/anime.

i've bought chinese edition

English subtitle and chinese audio

LOL chinese audio...  buddy it's gotta be heard in the original language.

Anyway my concern about this set is the fact that there's gonna be so many episodes piled onto 4 dvds. The Japanese set was 8... so that means the quality of the discs is gonna suffer. And to top it off... if you throw that horrible dub track in there... you're just gonna waste more space on the discs.

yup, so i wanna buy official DVD. the quality of Chinese masterforce really  :tdown

Doesn't sound worth going for then, that will save a little money.

What seperated Transformers from Robotech, Macross, Gundam, Power Rangers etc. was that the robots were the characters. Masterforce takes this idea, mashes it up and flings it back in your face!

Personally I feel that the characters in Headmasters were not all that great. But in Masterforce it gets worse. Transformers is about the robots, not about humans controlling robots.

Tell that to Rebirth

That is different. The Nebulons are working alongside the Autobots and the Autobots that bonded with them still had their personality. If anything the dynamic between them could have made a US season 4 very interesting.

In the Japanese shows, the Transformers who are controlled by humans have no personality at all. That is what bugged me so much.
