Some other Diaclone show cars..

Recommended Posts

Back of the boxes are SOOOOO much fun for weird rare picts like these...almost as interesting as those rare catalog story books.

Here we see a few toys and transforming toys.

A White vette that does not appear to be an actual transformer with white racing stripe and other car.

And on the right, we have in the middle of all the cars a prototype transforming robot car carrier that COULD HAVE BEEN out Optimus, but thank goodness we got Convoy.  THere's pictures of this thing in robot mode in the Takara Land book.

Maybe I'll post that later.

Here's a pic from the book for anyone interested.

Thanks.                                    -Himawari

Thanks Himawari, been awhile since I have seen or spoke to you.

Yes folks, that there COULD have been our optimus prime. Rather ugly ain't it?

Now if we are all done fending off emails from evil Yodarana spreading viruses and such, maybe someone could post something more interesting, old school Dia-related?

Truth be told, I don't care about the trailer, but the truck and robot I actually like. Not a bad design and pretty powerful looking. To bad they didn't make this into Ultra Magnus and give us Powered Convoy as a stronger Optimus Prime.

Would've been better, IMO, if they made the trailer not a car carrier but more like they did with Convoy/Prime later: solid and transforming into a battle station of some kind.

EDIT: how exactly does it transform? The wheels of the trailer seem to be the lower legs, but the arms...maybe the wheels of the truck?

Look at the wheels on the arms of that guy. Does anyone else get a slight Cybertron Armorhide vibe from that?

^ absolutely :thumb. Maybe that's why I like him. :schin

So, what was he called? was he ever produced? Are there any more pics...?

Tell me, tell me

If you take a closer look at this prototype it appears that the face it actually drawn on with a sharpie.  Its probably one of many early versions of prime we could have had.

The transform looks fairly simple.

Head tucks back, the arms fold up and to the sides to make the truck wheels.

Midsection folds up and under to connect with the trailer, and the legs go flat and extend backwards to make the trailer wheels.

Hmm...  Transformation is fairly close to Prime's, except for the legs detaching.  I mean, there's no way they could extend that far back, even if they telescoped.

Plus, there's a big space under the trailer between the cab and where the legs are placed on the underside that doesn't look to be a photo edit.

Any other Diaclone or Microchange photos of interest in the Takara SF Land book, as I've never found it for sale?
