Master collector unviels 2nd Combiner Redeco

How is it that when the 3H ran the con we were given figures with genuinely good paint apps, a japanese exclusive figure repainted as a unique characters which were affordable?

Affordable enough that 3H didn't make enough money to stay in business.

That maybe but 315 is a little hard to swallow for a set of toys that seemed to lack the quality of previous conventions.  However MC collector has made it all but impossible for fans to enjoy the conventions because everything is so overpriced.  For the price MC is charging I could go out and get other Transformers I would want instead of what they are producing.

They need to make a profit. 3H did not. This would lead me to say 3H was "underpriced" not that MC is "overpriced".  If it's "overpriced" in the sense that you won't pay that much for it, then that's the way it is, people won't buy stuff and there will not enough financial support to keep the club/con going. But while 3H's prices may have been cheaper and sold better they couldn't make a profit and keep it going. Thus it's very unfair to compare to them and expect the same standard and same value for the money. 3H should have charged more for the exclusive toys.

(Were they actually much cheaper for each pricepoint? I think it's actually pretty close if you break it down by the 7 or 8 figures and use $265 or an average of $265 and $315 instead of the biased, worst case scenario of $315 alone.)

Toys make a profit for a convention, it's good business sense for them to try to squeeze as much as they can from the toys. I'm not crazy about a big boxset costing that much, but I'm not deluding myself with biased comparisons to a failed business either.

I want to thank Edgewise for his clarification - however i have two questions:

A) I still dont understand how there would be any question on what materials to use since they have been doing limited run remolds for over 20 years. Its almost like they said - Oh Crap! you cant make a

G1-Optimus prime out of paper and have it still transform?!?! WTF - we thought you could! The error from a factory standpoint really is that dumb.

B) Why is Hasbro acting like such douches and making it so difficult for the clubs to operate - when they should be there fighting for the best possible product - i mean Botcon and Fanclubs really are for the fans by the fans ventures.  True - MC has no idea what that means. But Hasbro should at least be kind of endorsing that notion. even if its just a front.

Price is not the olnly factor in determining worth.

If they had 3 repaints of Ironhide and Ratchet - the box sets would have sold better.

As it was - they made 3 or 4 repaints of Arcee and Fugly Bugbot.

I am sure that even hasbro execs were saying - "and who the F** is this guy again that we need 4 repaints of him?"

"Sorry Arron - thats one of those Fuzor figures that never sold"

"Aahhh! Excellent.  Lets Do A-Sideswipe for next Botcon"

But how can you charge that kind of money for 7 toys when 3 of them are the same mold.  I could understand it if they were different molds or had slightly remolding or was even an interesting character; something to make the set different and let the customer feel justified in purchasing the item.  When a fan can go out and buy 3 buzzclaws and then repaint them to a similar color scheme and save money hand over fist then there's a problem that directly affects the decisions made by management.

Meh, there's really no reason to hash up this argument again. People that want this toy will probably join or renew their subscription. Those that don't, probably won't. Me? I like it. I just wish they wouldn't have ever said that it would be a remold if it wasn't going to be. Here's an idea for WHOEVER is running the club/con. Make sure something is DONE before you make promises. I know you get all excited about the ideas that you come up with. That's understandable. Just make sure that you aren't trying to make the impossible happen. That's pretty simple if you ask me.

FYI most competent businesses know this
