To be fair - on all this Botcon Figure bashing:

I was told by a fairly reliable source that the Botcon figures were sold out by the last day.  And even the fugly repaints of buzzclaw were selling quite well.

Now i dont know if its true. I but i trusted that thats what happened.

I also felt at the time - and still do - that the figures were horrible.

*Still wants to go to BotCon this year*

Hunter

Um, they've still got them for sale, somehow.

My bad then... are they still selling for rediculous prices?

^ Wow. Not even the members of the club get a deal on the collector's set. :roll

As for Landquake, I do like the translucent plastic (as i did on skyfall), but overall it's very much meh.

I don't like the fact that after they clearly stated that they would be remolding the figures after Skyfall then failed to do so. And this BS about the metal for the molds of the Botcon figures....OMG :roll :roll

*ROFFLES to Madhammer for his 24 karat gold*

What I want to know is what is this "metal" bs all about? WTF kind of excuse is that? And OMG, claiming that remolding this figure could have hurt the chance of the club continuing OR EVEN THE CON? Please. :roll

Remolds for limited edition runs such as the remolded bits for these con/club exclusives have their molds cast in cheap metal(maybe lead?). It's cheap but can only be used a fairly small number of times(~1000-2000...?). Molds for mass produced retail items must be cast in expensive metal(stainless steel I think...). So the factory cast the mold in a very expensive metal. Does that all make sense?

That's an explanation of what is meant by the "metal" problem.... if it really did happen or not, there's no way for me to really know and I'm not making any statment on that.

But assuming it did happen as they say it did: It is certainly very bad form to not have notified people it would not be remolded if they knew this detail any significant amount of time prior, which I must assume they must have.

Assuming the explanation is true, it certainly is unfair the club gets stuck with the expense for a factory error. But life is not fair... the club has little "power" to make any demands, they're lucky to actually get the factory to make these things, they're in no position to negotiate or refuse such charges. Anyone built a house? If the cost goes over the contractor's estimate does the contractor eat that or do you pay it? It may be "unfair" but these are the kind of problems the club has to deal with and they get no sympathy for since it's so easy for an outsider to overlook and not understand.

As for Botcon figures selling out.... the "souvenir" figures: Ratchet, Flareup, and Virulent clones all sold out. So it should just be a matter of MC reducing production numbers on the box sets(800) and loose sets(400) and increasing production numbers on the others, Ratchet/Flareup(500), Virulent Clone 2pack(400, thus 800 singles)

As for if the remolding would make or break the club, as a single factor probably not, but look they didn't sell out the boxsets, that has to have some impact on the finances. There's any number of other factors we don't know of and there's no way for us to really get an idea of the financial health. The OTFCC lesson should certainly enlighten people to the fact this isn't a guaranteed easy-money venture. The plethora of complaints and people not renewing or never joining should also be an indicator the club might not be pulling in huge membership dollars.

personaly i like it, love the colors and the clear red parts, i will be renewing my membership.......so if you dont like it dont buy the membership  PLAN AND SIMPLE

It's not as simple as that. That's just the easy way out. I'm a Transformers fan. I like being part of the club. I like the figure. I just find it messed up that they already can't keep their promises. I thought that's what everyone hated about 3H. Why is it ok for MC? I spent my money. I renewed. I can complain. I'm a customer.

plus 3H's designs >>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>> MC's designs JMO

That goes under the '¤¤¤¤ yeah they are!' file.

How is it that when the 3H ran the con we were given figures with genuinely good paint apps, a japanese exclusive figure repainted as a unique characters which were affordable?  3H closed because they tried to do to much for the fans to fast.  Hell I was sold for life when I saw the BW Megs repaint of Gigatron, but come seriously when you spend money on a collectors club there had better be something better than a crappy figure and a bi-monthly newsletter.  And dont give me that crap that is is the first year and its going to get better. I dont feel one bit sorry for you suckers who are stuck with that crap...as for me I dont lose out on anything when the club is a waste of money, the con is nowhere any destination I can afford and the exclusive toys are hideously colored and incredibly over priced.

These days it seems as if only Takara has the fans best interest in mind.
