The G1 is something I don't think you really can count...  at least not the origianals.

:roll There's always a clause.

he's right though, there's no room for dissing BM toys when G1 Megatron looks as super ghey as he does.... but this is well-trodden ground

Not really true.  The animators could have decided to make the show look more like the toy, then at least even the show would have been ghey too.  The Megs toy came out in 1974 originally I think.  Transformers first aired in 1982?  I think you get the point.  There's no excuse for toys made at the same time as the show to look so far off from what's actually IN the show (see BW first line or the already mentioned BM toys).

speaking of which, I just figured out that if you reverse Rattrap's legs his little foot heel thing that goes in the front looks exactly like the struts for his wheels.... NOT IN THE INSTRUCTIONS'D

he is a cool toy though in terms of being fun and all, but he's quite the hunchback

*still lovers to TRON Primal*

And yes, Rattrap is definitely the best of the BM toys.

By your logic that would make G1 Megs even worse, since they *could* have made him show-accurate but still didn't.

BTW the directive to make them look like men in suits came from Marvel (responsible for the original character designs since the comic came before the cartoon), who wanted the TFs to look more human-y. Which is why all the 1984 show characters are blocky, and why the 1985-onward characters are much more toy-accurate.

Tankor disagrees

I think he ties for first with about seven others....

Tankor's alright...  still kind of weak having claws instead of hands...

MH, you're probably right on taht given that I've never found an original BM Primal anywhere.  I would like to get my hands on that.  I had Air Attack Primal, but, frankly, it was pretty damn meh.

And on the Megs, yeah, you're right about that.  They really could have made him better, and really, they shouldn't have had him as a pistol anyway.  Still, he's a cool old diecast 70's robot toy if you're into that sort of thing.

I agree that he's cool as far as Japanese robot toys from the 70's go.

The thing about Tankor's claws etc. is that that was all part of the design aesthetic. They were supposed to look "inhuman", hence their claw hands, expressionless faces w/ no mouths, non-humanoid bodies (read: no feet), etc. Like I said, I started to like the Vehicons when I started to understand and get behind this idea. I just thought it was cool because it was something that had never really been explored before with Transformers... plus, when you remove human influence from TFs, what would they look like? Instead of having useless passenger compartments, would they have heads that could look around in vehicle mode? Perhaps. And so on.

anyway I'll just turn this into a BM lovefest if I keep typing so I'll just STFU
