Yes, it really would've been nice to have local stores carry it when it was originally released.  Unfortunately, it's very likely they'll choose not to carry it this time either.  Oh, and 10 to 1 it will be the same toy with the same accessories.  Maybe a movie inspired paintjob will replace the battle damage if we're lucky.

 

The sad thing is there is sooooooooo much more to Superman than just where he came from and him having the hot's for Lois Lane.

 

But I am frankly sick of the G1 hommage this and G1 hommage that. There is so much more to TFs and then G1.

I know what you mean, there's lots more out there...yknow, like collecting all the minicons, super mode color changes, ridiculous anime stereotypes, and "stories" that drag on and on for 52 forgettable episodes!  Frankly, the people responsible for the fiction and, to a lesser extent, the toys should be forced to recreate G1 over and over until they figure out what made it a lasting success.  This whole push to be new new new at the expense of everything else is far worse.

 

The fact that some fans are clamoring for G1 should be telling and that it's being leaned on at all should be concerning.  Maybe that link is key to keeping the franchise alive until the next Beast Wars (nobody's questioning why Cybertron's being 2-pack clearanced already or what the brand, especially in light of Takara's news, would look like without Alternators?).  When they turn out a competitive replacement, _then_ we can start moving on.

Yeah, a little disappointed in some of the size choices.  Ops, Grimlock and Astrotrain should be bigger than deluxe, and Bumblebee should be a basic at best (yes, I realize that they're only planning deluxes and megas for this line).

 

And I'm hoping that the two TBD deluxes are Sideswipe and Sunstreaker.  Though they got shafted in terms of airtime on the show, they're still two very popular characters, had the best car modes of the G1 bots, and Sideswipe had the best robot mode of any Autobot car. 

 

And I rather they didn't have Hot Rod at all.

 

Ultimately, I'm sure they'll have more than this, though the 'more' will probably consist mostly, if not entirely, of repaints.  Hell, with all the 'homages' there have been in the last couple of years, they could nearly fill the bulk of the G1 cast.  Oh God, just thought of the possibility that they'd use the Arm Wheeljack mold for Sideswipe and bile immediately rushed up my throat - Sideswipe really needs an original mold.  But a remolded head on the Mach alert mold wouldn't make for a bad Sunstreaker.

How did they get the name "hot roddimus major prime"
