Michael Bay Talks Transformers

Recommended Posts

Alright, you guys are basically daring McBay to make a horrible movie now...  Did anyone actually see The Island?  I found it quite enjoyable.  Moreso than any of his other movies.  It was really pretty good.  I think all he needs from the fandom is a stern pat on the back.  Now STFU! :grr

I'm gonna have to agree here. A lot of people are complaining about "Giant Alien Robots" and "cars going at it like rock'em sock'em. . " Yeah. . .

This is the kinda stuff I'm hoping for. I'd love to see Ironhide having to outrun some Decepticon tank traveling as fast as he is, while trying to minimize human casualties in the middle of rush hour on a free way. That's the kind of intense action I want to see.

I want to see Optimus smash Megatron in the face and see Megatron hit the pavement, smashing it into so many pieces of rubble. I want to see a shocked, dented expression on Megatron's face, and I want to see him get up and punch Optimus back.

I want to see the humans help the out-numbered, out-gunned, and out-skilled Autobots come back and defeat the Decepticons. I WANT to see the Autobots in a desperate, final fight for survival, searching for their last hope to defeat the Decepticons. I WANT to see all of that corny crap, I want to see things explode, I want to see giant, alien robots! You know why? Because I watch a movie for it's entertainment value.

I thought all three Matrix films were good. I enjoy watching them.

I love Short Circuit. I don't know why anyone dislikes the Rock. I love the Rundown and Walking Tall, and though I haven't seen it yet, I imagine Doom is pretty good too.

In fact, the only movie I've seen and thought was utter crap was Hostage. That's the worst film I've seen in ages, and I'm a fan of Bruce Willis. Congrats, Bruce, you've shown the world you can cry on command. Yay.

I'm psyched for this movie, because I don't care about all the usual stuff that will most likely be included. I'm fine with "people of different creeds/races coming together and winning". I LIKE that. I go to movies to be taken to another place where things turn out like I would like them to, and believe me, I'm very idealistic. The best movies are the ones with happy, predictable endings. I don't want gritty realism where the hero, though he may have succeeded, dies in the end. I don't like that. Hell, I hate it when the BAD GUY dies, because that means he can't come back and cause more trouble(I'm looking at you, Spider-Man I and II).

If I didn't like happy, predictable endings where everything turns out peachy, the good guys always win, and the bad guys call retreat, I WOULDN'T BE INTO TRANSFORMERS, now would I? If I liked realism and the real world, I'd be into movies like Final Destination, where you are completely screwed no matter what. Thanks, but I experience that in the real world, I don't need it in my movies.

Summary: I'm gonna like this movie, all nay sayers are silly, it got a little longer than I intended.

I'd just like to mention that the worst Michael Bay movie would make more money at the box office than a rerelease of TF:TM JMO kthx

FACT'D

EDIT: I like how OP 3000 claims "Final Destination" is "realistic"

haha!

but seriously - although i disagree with his taste in film in general. I have to say that i agree with his hopes and enthusiasm for the direction that the TF movie should go.

amen optipmus 3000 i too wanna see all this and more...im hoping it doesnt suck as bad as all of ya'll are saying but i dont care...i will see it i will own it and i will watch it a bunch of times...even if it does suck

but its not gonna so we dont have to talk like that now do we:D

After the Cybertron Burger King toys, I don't think anyone will get them except for cheap kitbash experimentation. But yeah, If this movie even gets made it'll be a miracle. I wonder if they'll even screen it for critics...

If by "cheap kitbash experimentation" you really mean "baseball replacements for when you run out during batting practice" then I agree.

It's threads like this that remind me why I hate overly obnoxious fanboys.  :tfmad

It's because of you that I hope Kicker gets top billing as a human character in this movie. I personally wouldn't mind but seeing as some of you have already seen this as a multimillion dollar flop from the word go I don't see how it could possibly matter either way.

As for me all I know is Transformers is being made into a live action film for the Summer of 2007, Dreamworks is releasing it and Don Murphy, Micheal Bay and Steven Spielberg are involved with it in some way or another. Not to sure what to expect but IMPO it can't be any worse then what we got in 86 when Optimus Prime needlessly died, Spock was horribly miscast as Galvatron and the dance scene to Wierd Al's Dare to be Stupid. That considered being optimistic about this whole project really isn't that difficult. As long as Bay and Company go against almost everything most of the fanboy purists want or expect this should be a pretty good movie.

Just for the record, I don't think "Final Destination" is realistic as far as the movie goes, but it's message, "No matter what you do, even if you manage to beat the odds, eventually you WILL be defeated, and there's nothing you can do about it."

That's a very realistic type of message. Our world is going to hell. So is that. I don't want to go to a movie and see these kinds of messages, because I go to movies to ESCAPE my world and see something with hope in it.

That's what I meant by saying it was "realistic."

Prozac helps.

you know your whole post (indeed the whole Final Destination series) boils down to one sentence:

Every one dies at some point.

so yeah - i guess thats realistic.

By the way - for the record, i think shakespeare sucks and has no literary value cause his plays didnt always end happily.
