From what I understand they were sold at stores in Japan kinda like baseball cards or something similiar as sold here in the states.  They are cheap, trade and collect them all kind of little toys.

Correct, they came in little "lucky draw" boxes where you didn't know which figure you were getting until the box was opened.  (An annoying thing that candy toy makers only started in the last couple of years.  :grr )

kinder eggs rock!  I used to get them a lot as a kid from my grandmother who lived in germany.

They are neat but the stuff inside is often so-so. There are people who collect those trinkets. One advantage. If you have 500 of those it does not take up nearly as much space as 200 Transformers. Unless it is all Micrmasters.  :tflaugh

The blind packaging is annoying. Imagine buying a whole case and finding the same figure over and over.

I like these little guys. Was supposed to get WST Soundwave but he is probably lost in the mail. Just my luck.

If I had to keep only one of my WSTFs it'd be Soundwave. He looks like an old-skool boogie box sitting on Alt-DE's passenger seat!  :thumb

Sorry, I meant the Japanese candy toy makers.  For the most part, they used to identify what was in the box until recently.

I Bought a set of WSTFs when Reprolabels were selling them and was Suprised by the Details on every one - They basically have the Exact transformations as the Full-Size G1 toys, in much smaller sizes.  I splurged & ordered the Stickers for a few, but it was well worth it- they look Especially cool Displayed next to a few HOC/PVC-Figures.

The Smaller size does make them more fragile, but I believe Most collectors aren't getting these for their kids, anyways. Most of them feel sturdy enough, & parts are designed to come apart Instead of breaking. As with ANY Collectible(s), I agree with the advice of "try 1 or 2 before you buy a bunch"
