on the bots that later became target masters, which do you like better?  I mean to me it seems the targetmasters are way better since you get two bots, plus it still comes with the original weapons as well.

Aside from Blurr's shield & Scourge's head-gun-thing, the TM versions did NOT include the original accessories.

Well target masters for the reasoning you just mentioned. But they are no big deal since they can't become the drivers like the Headmasters.  Plust they can't at least move their arms in bot mode. Unlike alot of minicons that can and are almost like Targetmasters since they attach to the main TF's

I personally like the original versions more simply b/c I am collecting G1 year-by-year, so obviously I get to the originals first. I probably won't buy the Targetmaster versions b/c I already have the original so why buy a 2nd version of the same thing?

I will say that if you have to choose b/w the two versions though, you make a very good point about getting the Targetmaster so that you get 2 bots for 1.

Well if your problem is that the arms don`t move then just use a small drill bit in the shoulder. Then cut the arms off with an X-Acto knife and put a small screw through the shoulder hole that you drilled and voila movable arms. For separately movable legs just dremel them apart and then you can move them separately. That`s what I did to the original Rodimus VTS target master figure I made from Firebolt. There are however some of the target master figures that this won`t work on because they are all one piece but it should work on all of the ones that came with the same size class as Hotrod and Kup.

The original 87 targetmasters did not come with their original weapons....the reissues of kup and hot rod did, however they are not originals so WOMP on them lol. I have them both...mainly for the rarity of the original movie character targetmasters...of course the two reissues ruined that lol. As for the target masters lack of moving arm? I dont think hasbro cared then...they already WERE a gimmick....did they need to be perfect? lol. Also in gun mode...articulated arms would have taked away from it...made it looks sloppy, loose IMO.

Originals for me.

About the arms, if today we have minicons that can transform, and at least move their arms up and down, the same concept should work for a Targetmaster.  I got a reissue Ricochet and I can't stand that little Targetmaster. Especially when compared to the little dude that comes with Vector Prime who is a triple changer, and i have also. (Robot, ship, and side arm) And that little guy has joints.

toy technology has moved on alot since then, it's like comparing the original optimus to 20th version.

i quite like the concept of target masters, makes more sense than minicon imo.

I'd prefer the first releases and the original weapons for Scourge and Cyclonus PWN.
